A deep magnitude 8.2 earthquake occurred early on the 19th, after a quake warning was issued for 16 to 18 August based on critical planetary geometry. However, the magnitude was even larger than anticipated. The large tremor was followed by and dwarfed another 6 pointer (6.3) in Lombok.
