Just a quick video i recorded before i went to work this morning. This was a old General Electric desk microphone that was once used on some old GE PA System, the microphone itself was actually built by SHURE, the mic cord was missing when i got it. So today i decided to put the microphone back in action by installing a new microphone cord and wiring it so it worked with the Kenwood TK-760hg mobile radio. This microphone should work on all Kenwood TK series mobile radios, because all of the series are wired the same. I found out after wiring the microphone that no audio was coming from the microphone, this was quickly sourced to the microphone element, which i now have replaced with a 600ohm element from an old Realistic CB radio microphone. This microphone will have a audio amplifier built and installed with in the next couple of days. Stay tuned for further videos about this.

Letter beacons are radio transmissions of uncertain origin and unknown purpose, consisting of only a single repeating Morse code letter. They have been classified into a number of groups according to transmission code and frequency, and it is supposed that the source for most of them is Russia.

New frequencies are being worked on at the moment with our local frequency coordinator. More to come on this project later. ;-)
Special thanks for the fine folks that donated this equipment to us to experiment with. :-)
