In memory of J.J. and all he was to so many, who like him, helped to build an online community which fosters compassion, teamwork, honesty and love for our favorite modern myths I am inspired to honor him by keeping it real. The Fandom Menace may be all but gone but what that grassroots fan backlash achieved will last for years to come. Those inspired by honest voices such as @Marc With a C, @Nerdrotic and many more created a culture of supporting others that still exists today. Since I created my channel three years ago I have learned a lot. I have met many people, experienced successes and learned lessons from missteps. Engaging in larger communities of fandoms I have discovered many different types of people. Some honest or good natured. Some that use the love others have for something as a tool to grow a brand. Others that pervert the messaging of a fandom or a modern myth to platform harmful ideas with the intention of hurting others. Whether it's been George Lucas Star Wars, Kathleen Kennedy's Disney Lucasfilm, Star Trek or any other fandom I have tried to engage with, the last thing I ever wanted to discover was the toxic fandom exists in places I'd never expect. The lengths some people will go to hate and hurt you for a difference of opinion is something I believe we should all stand up against. Be Good To Each Other, Yet Suffer No Fools.
