Black-clad protesters smashed a storefront in Paris on Tuesday, while a car was left completely burned in Nantes, as demonstrations against French President Emmanuel Macron's pension reforms continued for another day in the country. Police responded by launching tear gas at protesters in Paris and Nantes in an effort to discourage the demonstrations. "We've only protested once, last week. Everything was going well, until police forces started becoming violent. Before that, everything was okay, we were marching, with music," protester Emmy Herthe said. "In my opinion, it's often that violence starts to manifest once police forces begin throwing tear gas, and so on." It was the latest acts of violence that erupted during the ongoing, largely peaceful, demonstrations in France amid Macron's push to raise the retirement age by two years to 64 — a bill that passed through parliament last week without a vote. The Eiffel Tower was also closed for the day as many of its employees participated in a strike against the reforms, while striking railway workers blocked train traffic. Entre 500 et 700 pêcheurs se sont rassemblés à Rennes, mercredi 22 mars 2023, pour exprimer leur « colère », face aux contraintes qui pèsent sur leur profession (carburant, réglementation…). Alors qu’une délégation était reçue en préfecture, les manifestants ont voulu rejoindre le Parlement de Bretagne. Des affrontements ont éclaté en centre-ville avec les forces de l’ordre. Au moins trois manifestants ont été blessés et six personnes interpellées.
