Mentorship is vital, especially in the Christian church. We call it discipleship. In this video, I continue looking at the hero's journey as a framework for understanding a Christian's spiritual journey by looking at part 2: the wise mentor. After accepting the gospel call (part 1, link below), the Christian hero should have one or more persons who will mentor him or her along the way. Discipleship is when a more spiritually mature Christian helps train, guide, and mentor a spiritually younger believer in order to help him or her grow in their faith. In this video, I review the three ways Scripture shows us discipleship occurs: one-on-many, one-on-few, and one-on-one. I next look at what the Bible tells us a mentor should do based on the Great Commission.
