[Stream] Sonic Origins: Story Mode PT1 - Sonic the Hedgehog Returns
Sonic Origins was developed by the Sonic Team (Assisted by Headcannon) and published by Sega.
Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Robotnik, and various Metal Sonics and characters are copyright by Sega and their respective creators
Gameplay and commentary done by me.

Well, Sega finally got their collection of classic console Sonic games all rolled into one package. The end result is that it's a pretty good experience, but it is admittedly mostly been experienced on the iOS/Android versions of Sonic and Sonic 2 courtesy of Christian Whitehead's efforts, as well as Sonic CD. Sega figured that if people realized that, they would be in a bit of trouble.

All in all, it's a nice bundle to be fair and the new modes and cutscenes are easily some of the best parts of the experience. Furthermore, you have all the soundtracks that you can listen to (but rip Sonic 3 in more ways than one).

I thought Story Mode would be something different. It's not, but it wouldn't hurt going through these classic games one by one with a nice connecting kind of storyline between all of them. The cutscenes are the true reward for starting AND beating these games!

Also, how many lives did I lose? I have to wonder if I got a Game Over at this rate...

This is where the game really begins to spice it up. Each of these next three courses offers an interesting challenge for Mario to take on. For the Hazy Maze Cave, you'll be thrown into a rather intricate, Zelda-like dungeon of sorts but without the need for keys. Lethal Lava Land is a Blargg's vacation spot, but those don't exist in this game sadly. However, they are rampaging bullies that like to deck you into a pool of unforgiving lava! Finally, the ...mystery that lives beyond the walls of the basement. The place where footprints are never left and the water is never in plain sight. I am starting up operations again and I think I've exorcised my demons on the subject. I know it's been a really long while and taken a lot of time to escape this self-imposed cycle of shame. My main goal is get some Let's Play videos recorded for uploading next month and to stream a complete game this month (should probably take about 4-6 sessions to do). I am not certain how Humbleton could hide this abomination for so long given that the Master has a view of the entire world, but here we are; the beginning of the end! And man, was I let down? The Tower of Souls had a lot going into it, but what you get is an amalgamation of steel, circuitry and lacking. It's hard to describe my feelings for this level other than a "cool concept that lacks any punch." Instead of getting knocked off your feet by this otherwise impressive commitment to a towering level that offers some promising visuals at points, it just finds way to make the climb more agonizing than memorable. Instead of doing something fancy with the latter half of the level, you're greeted with a mini-boss rush. At this point, you've either forgotten about these guys or grown sick of them! Thankfully, this section isn't plagued with a very rough continue point. Regardless, this stage is ultimately a reminder of all the crap you've had to put up with throughout the whole game! And then, there's THAT thing at the top... Oh boy, Humbleton's really done it now with the BS! The Teenage Mutant Turtles and their respective characters are owned by Nickelodeon. After playing back Bebop and Rocksteady for wrecking our ride, it seems that the zoo would be a great place to continue this wild and crazy ride. However, we learn that not everyone is on the same side of Shredder, rogue entities are looking to snatch Krang's head for themselves and they don't care who they subdue in the process! We get a nice host of new characters (namely villains and cameos) thrown into the mix with these next three stages! It's refreshing considering how many times we've dealt with Bebop and Rocksteady so far! But of course, Shredder's plans are starting to coming together, almost literally!
