The name is actually an acronym for "Eclectic, Lavish, Exhilarating, Xenial". The title is the 7th by the independent developer, and departs from previous games in several ways: the setting is a science fiction one; music was written by project lead Björn Pankratz, and the hero has a name! Controls are mostly familiar: W, A, S, and D for movement; Space to jump; Left Shift to run; and I for inventory. Additionally, double-tap Space and holding it down on the second tap will activate and maintain your jet pack and flight. E is a power attack, while LMB is a standard attack. Double-tapping a direction (WASD) will dodge in the indicated direction. A stamina bar limits your ability to chain attacks and run or jump. After a meteor collides with the planet Magalan and turns most of its surface to ash, the remnants of its inhabitants are engaged in a battle for survival. A primary part of this conflict is an element called ELEX, a limited resource of great value that arrived with the meteor. The element has been applied in a variety of ways: powering machines, bestowing magical abilities, and even resculpting life itself. Recovering from a crash, the protagonist Jax is almost immediately branded a failure and a traitor, and is forced to flee the scene. He suffers withdrawals from ELEX as well as experiencing emotions for the first time ever. As his own people, the Albs, hunt him, he meets others on Magalan and chooses a side to which he is drawn: the berserkers, the clerics, or the outlaws. Will Jax clear his name? Senscape's demo was only available until June 26, 2020; the full game will be released at some point later, when development is complete. This and the next video (the original stream is split into two parts) are my first experience with what promises to be another great game. As a point-and-click, there is no movement with the standard W, A, S, or D of most games. Instead, LMB while a hand points in a direction will either turn the protagonist or move him forward. Other icons for examining something, trying to open a door, etc., are provided for a degree of guidance within the game. RMB opens your journal, where you keep notes, quest steps, and questions to pose to NPCs (in this demo, only the receptionist at the front desk, Julia). When a man who previously visited the Hanwell Mental Institute returns to try to make sense of headaches and recent visions he's experiencing, he is confronted by the very real fact that things have dramatically changed since he left — and not for the better. The receptionist, Julia, is attending her first shift at the institute, making her nearly as clueless as you are. Without much assistance and little information, you begin to explore the rooms and halls, looking for answers to questions that resist simple explanation. How is the game looking so far?
