I Bought a Supercharged Audi Super CHEAP after someone FAILED to Fix it!
Back to Audi I go! Come along as I pick up my newest project for $2200! It won't start and hasn't ran in a few months, but that's ok because I'm pretty sure I got a good deal on it and can get it running! Plus, it had a little hidden surprise I noticed while I was under it!
This is one of the only platforms I haven't included on the channel that I have been wanting to get my hands on. Really wish it was a wagon (Avant), but still just as happy to of found this one.
The seller said the steering module went bad, however I can turn the wheel. The ignition does nothing when turned so I'll throw a fresh battery in and begin the diagnosis. Follow along to see if I can get this thing running!

Mercedes Benz thought it would be a genius idea to add an additional box under the hood for deeper diagnostic work. This is a 38-pin connector port located on the passenger side. This connects to a compatible obd2 scanner and will allow you access to the Transmission Control Module to get it out of limp mode after repairs are completed or to access any other module more in depth than the port under the dash.
I tried several scan tools and none of them worked still, so I had to order the iCarSoft Muliticar scanner that has Mercedes capabilities to read these modules - https://amzn.to/43jwNUu

There seems to be far more coolant in this engine than oil?
I bought this 2011 #AudiA6 with the 3.0 #supercharged engine for $1000 because it had a seized engine. These engines have a few common failure points on them that can cause coolant to enter the oil system.
First one is the intercooler packs located inside the supercharger. These begin to leak coolant with age down into your combustion chamber. Really bad failures can flood the engine block with coolant and easily seize the engine. These should be replaced about every 75k regardless. If you are noticing white smoke and coolant consumption, this could be it. Get it addressed before it locks up.
Another common issue is the #PCV valve. These are notorious for failing and causing coolant and oil to mix, coolant consumption and bad oil consumption. These should be replaced every 75k as well for preventative maintenance.
Then we got the #OilCooler which is not as common, but can happen. That one is a simple failure that will just start causing them to mix. However, most of the time those just leak externally.
Lastly we got the headgasket of course. I personally don't see these fail as often as the above mentioned failures. But it still happens and will also mix the two.
ALL of these can cause your engine to sieze. So if you have white smoke coming out the exhuast or coolant consumption, definitely get it checked out and fixed.
The person that sold me this car could of prevented this for a few hundred dollars. But now the repair is a new engine and a used one costs about $3000 just for the motor.
I ended up selling it as is for $2000 a few days ago as I already have another #A6 I the garage with a seized engine as well?

In today's video I will be showing you a simple technique on how to get your Audi A6 into 'service position'. This helps you access all kinds of areas for maintenance such as your serpentine belt, sensors, and much more. This applies for all models from late 2005 - 2011 3.0, 3.2, & 4.2.
To put these Audi's into service position it usually requires a special tool. But in this video, I will be showing you how to do it without ANY special tools!
Unless you are doing some intense engine work, you really don't have to go further than this step. No disconnecting the A/C lines, or draining coolant, or removing the transmission. Its like service position made easy!

I have a habit of buying cars that need all kinds of love. When I saw this 2009 Subaru Legacy GT posted on Marketplace, something just told me I needed to grab it! I haven't had a Subaru in about 7 years now and every once in a while, some change is good. This car was listed with a rod knock from a spun rod bearing and that was correct. I removed the oil pan to confirm before pulling the engine.
I chose to go with an engine rebuild instead of a JDM swap or a used engine. I feel like the engine rebuild is going to be more reliable and under budget. So I scrubbed this thing down to check out the condition of the paint and got it ready to pull the engine. Dropped it off at the machine shop across town and got quoted 4-6 week wait time. So now we wait!

Seems to be the only way to get this torque converter off this #A6 3.0 TFSI engine is to disassemble it from the bottom. It's so seized so bad it won't rotate even with a 6ft breaker bar attached. Once the rods are unbolted, it should rotate enough for me to get access to the torque converter bolts.
Little did I know how hard this torque converter was to take off. Full video of the engine tear down will be uploaded to my Youtube. Seems to have the bearings welded to the crank at this point?
