Grade 7 Math, 12.1A, Probability, events, trials, outcomes, likelihood of events (New Version)
An explanation of how to recognize an event, a trial, and outcome, the probability of an event occurring on a scale of 0 to 1. Rolling a number cube (die) 6 times and the probability of getting a particular outcome. Choosing a marble from a bag and determining the probability of an outcome. Sorry the video is shaky. YouTube removed their stabilization tool August 2018 and I haven't found a program that works yet. Grade 7 Math Playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKi4WTp6PRGWOhs0gkb3-_LF0MtIDk3rY
I show you how to add numbers mentally by rounding them up to easy and compatible numbers, then subtracting the excess amount. Mental addition is useful when shopping, or when we just need a quick sum.

We can use an inch ruler to measure length to the nearest inch. We line up the left side of the object with the 0 mark on the ruler. Then we find the inch mark that is closest to the other end of the object. For this lesson we will need our color tile rulers from video 8.2 and an inch ruler. Some rulers will have a 0, and some will have a line. The first line IS the 0 mark. We do spatial and abstract reasoning by drawing a one inch rectangle using a ruler. Then without the ruler, we use the 1-inch rectangle as a guide to draw a 2-inch and a 3-inch rectangle. We measure objects to their nearest inch. The longest mark on a ruler shows inches. The medium mark shows half of an inch. The half-inch marks are exactly between the inch marks. We find how much longer one line is than another. We measure the two sides of an angle to find the total measure.

We can find half of a shape by dividing the shape into 2 equal parts and shading one of the parts. We can find a third of a shape by dividing the shape into 3 equal parts and shading one of the parts. We can find a fourth of a shape by dividing it into 4 equal parts and shading one of the parts. In different shapes, the size and the shape of the parts can be different. We can think of a circle as a clock face. One hour is equal to one whole. A quarter of an hour is a fourth of the clock face. A fourth is also called a quarter of a shape. The shape with the greatest number of equal parts will have the smallest parts. The shape with the fewest number of equal parts will have the largest parts. We compare half of a pizza, third of a pizza, and fourth of a pizza.

We can use a picture graph to show data as pictures. Data is information that is numbers, words, or both. Each picture stands for a certain amount. The key will tell us how many each picture stands for. A survey is a collection of data from answers to a question. We read the gathered answers as data, and use picture graphs to answer questions. Picture graphs and tally charts make it easier for us to answer comparison questions. We find which has the most, which has the fewest, and we find totals.

An explanation of a combination as a grouping of items in which order does not matter. We discuss the formula to use to find combinations, how to decide whether to use permutations or combinations, and the symbols that are used to write "the number of combinations of n items taken r at a time".

(Sorry, ERROR AT 4:21, it should be BD and not BC, we're finding the diagonals) An explanation of how we can prove that a given quadrilateral is a rectangle, rhombus, or square by using the definitions of the special quadrilaterals. We apply the conditions for special parallelograms to determine if a conclusion is valid, we identify special parallelograms in the coordinate plane using diagonals to determine whether a parallelogram with given vertices is a rectangle, rhombus, or square. We use the Distance Formula and the Slope Formula to help us do this.
