#sketchbooktour #sketchbookpeek #watercolorsketchbook Join me for a Quick Sketchbook Tour of My Postcard Life here in Montezuma & La Plata Counties in southwest Colorado. Locals will recognize some of the historic and favorite restaurants in our area. After I moved back to the Durango area in 2015, I began sketching people and art at our local restaurants while we waited for our meal. The sketches were quick, childlike ink drawings—no self-berating was allowed. I’d put the drawing away while we ate, then over a final cup of coffee while waiting for the bill, I’d drop in watercolor. I couldn’t erase ink which forced me to leap and not turn back. This practice stretched me and elevated my art skills and confidence in drawing. I love the wonky characters I drew, and the truth is, in my opening drawing in the video, locals recognize the woman immediately when they see this sketch. And so did she! I’ve since met her and become friends. Life is cool that way—I drew a good friend to me! I hope you will jump in to make quick postcards of your life using ink and watercolors.
