A special video today as this was an unplanned sighting, here's Air Canada's third Airbus A220-300 C-GJXN taking off on a test flight from Montreal Mirabel, where this aircraft is made! With the tracking websites like Flightradar24 lacking any history for this particular aircraft, it is quite possible that this is its first flight!
Air Canada has 45 of these on order, with one delivered (C-GROV, which I went on), and one still in testing (C-GJXE). Under current plans, the whole order will be finished by 2022 while two new routes will be launched in May with this aircraft type: Montreal-Seattle, and Toronto-San Jose.
The weather was quite beautiful today without a cloud in sight, which is a stark contrast to Friday where Montreal got 40 cm of snow in a big snowstorm, which helped because I filmed this video standing on one of the tall snow banks which were made from snow removal.
