Modifications to the MDT 7 MHz QRP transceiver (and a 2 x MDT contact)
Modifications for the OzQRP MDT 40m DSB transceiver kit. They improve frequency range, tuning ease and convert a dynamic microphone into a speaker-microphone. There is also a demonstration of what QRP DSB from another MDT sounds like on a direct conversion receiver. It can be quite copiable but tuning in is much harder than for SSB. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDd4cjkOAi8

OFFER CLOSED! Australian Foundation amateurs can now build their own transmitting equipment thanks to improved regulations. To celebrate we're giving away parts to put more Foundation homebrew rigs on the air. Just put your Australian Foundation callsign in the comments below and I'll send you a free 7.2 MHz ceramic resonator suitable for various receiver and transceiver projects (Be quick - maximum 20 people).

Cheap 10.111 MHz crystals are sometimes available in bulk for a few cents each. They're handy for 10 MHz homebrew CW transmitters. How well do they work in a VXO circuit?
In this video I try two crystals in parallel. Series L and variable C allows stable coverage over the CW end of the band. The oscillator is even stable enough to key if desired.

A TRF AM broadcast receiver using the popular ZN414 / MK484 single chip radio IC. Performance is surprisingly good for its 2.5mA current draw. The video gives a demonstration of its performance and description of the circuit.

If you're having trouble finding a 7.2 MHz ceramic resonator (though see the comment under an earlier video), a wide range variable crystal oscillator can do the job.
This video describes the small modifications needed to make a wide range 'super VXO' for 7 MHz with a pulling range of over 50 kHz. The crystals needed - 7.122 & 7.159 MHz - are cheaply available as well. As with the first video you're encouraged to draw along for the circuit.

Two ICs is all that's needed to make a simple binaural direct receiver. Making use of both your ears it's like tuning the HF bands in stereo.
