On June 12, 1967, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down bans on interracial marriage in more than a dozen states in the case of Loving v. Virginia. Today, the highest court in the United States may soon take on the issue of marriage equality for gay and lesbian relationships. Attorneys David Boies and Theodore B. Olson are hoping the case of Perry v. Schwarzenegger will further establish marriage as a fundamental right of citizenship. Also featured are John Podesta, President of the Center for American Progress, Cato Institute Chairman Robert A. Levy and Cato Executive Vice President David Boaz.
Video produced by Caleb O. Brown and Austin Bragg. Event footage shot by Evan Banks.

Visit http://www.downsizinggovernment.org for more information on how to cut unconstitutional and irresponsible federal spending.
Cato Institute Scholars Dan Mitchell and Chris Edwards evaluate the plans offered by Republicans for lowering federal spending using a so-called "Cut, Cap and Balance" proposal that would make small cuts to federal spending in the short run, cap federal spending at a higher share of GDP than the last years of the Clinton Administration, and balance the federal budget using a tax-limited balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

UPDATE (03/01/13): To clarify a comment from the video that may be unclear, references to future defense spending are in nominal dollars.

The "cuts" under sequestration are, in fact, not spending cuts at all. Even the one department that faces substantive cuts, Defense, will continue to spend at historically high levels. Cato Institute Senior Fellow Michael D. Tanner comments.

Eighty‐four countries around the world have criminal blasphemy laws, according to a recent report by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.
Mob activity, threats, and violence based on accusations of blasphemy are also common in some of these countries.
The result is the silencing of millions of people and the direct persecution of hundreds of people every year, by law or vigilantism, for merely expressing their ideas and opinions.
Speakers will highlight this global threat to freedom of speech, with special attention to Pakistan, which is home to the highest number of blasphemy‐related prosecutions as well as societal violence.

Ron Paul's two presidential campaigns have galvanized a mass movement for smaller government, sound money, and an end to our interventionist foreign policy. This genuinely spontaneous movement has featured blimps, "money bombs," the rEVOLution logo, and thousands of college students chanting "End the Fed" at campuses across the country. Somehow the message Ron Paul had been advancing for 30 years caught on in an era of financial collapse, bailouts, unprecedented deficits, and the two longest wars in American history. Brian Doherty, a senior editor at Reason and author of several books on libertarian history, has been covering Ron Paul since 1999. In his new book he looks at Paul's background, his early years in Congress, his 1988 Libertarian presidential run, his recent campaigns, the grassroots activists who joined the Ron Paul revolution, and indeed the election of Senator Rand Paul.
