If you're into self-sufficiency and self-reliance on your homestead, growing willow trees to feed your animals might be the easiest thing you could do.
This willow tree is considered by many to be the fastest-growing tree in the world. You can see that this week alone, mine have put on over 9 inches of growth.
Rabbets, goats, and cattle love to eat this stuff, and it's crazy easy to grow.
Welcome to 'The Sabbath Misunderstood #8: Unraveling John MacArthur's Misinterpretations'. In this part, we dive into Romans chapter 14. We challenge Dr. MacArthur's interpretation of this chapter as discussing the Sabbath and dietary laws, suggesting that these are now matters of personal opinion rather than divine command. We argue that the chapter is discussing vegetarianism versus non-vegetarianism and the day of the week to fast, not the Sabbath or dietary laws.
Here's a list of all 11 parts of this series:

This video is a remake of my original review of the Mr. Heater Big Buddy with 20 lb propane tank configuration. As the name suggests I'm going to discuss how to connect a Big Buddy heater to a large 20-pound tank using the Big Buddy Heater Hose and a Mr. Heater filter.
Also, I'm going to answer a question I get all the time which is: "how long will a big buddy heater run on a 20 lb tank." Not only that, but I'll dig into the number behind how much propane the Mr. Heater Big Buddy uses on low, medium, and high as well as how long each setting will burn with both 1 and 20 lb tanks.
I think every homestead should have at least one source of backup heat in the winter. A good propane space heater is hard to beat. And in my opinion, the best propane heater for the money is the Mr. Heater Big Buddy (Mr. Heater MH18B).
If you aren't already prepared for the winter and need to be sure you can keep your family warm, check out all the great Mr. Heater products as well as a few other brands on Amazon with the link below.

Today we're staining a large wood wall ruler growth chart that was given to our family. A wood growth chart is so much fun to have in your home.
The advantage of having the growth chart separate from just marking on a wall is that if you ever move, you simply take it with you. How many family memories have been lost that could have been kept if only a separate wall ruler had been used?

I found out the hard way that I should have had an extra one of these $4 generator parts.
What part is that?
It's the Petcock Fuel Shut Off Valve.
This is a simple piece but once it breaks, there's no good way to get fuel from the tank into the carburetor.

This is part one of who knows how many videos. I started the afternoon planning on taking down the old wall and framing out the door. However, I found that the subfloor was in worse shape than i originally thought. I was forced to remove and replace it before continuing with the wall and doors. This project is on a 1997 American Homestar mobile / manufactured home that was trashed out by its previous owner.

Do electric fly swatters work on wasps and bees?
The short answer is yes. You can kill wasps and bees using an electric fly swatter. However, they don't kill them in the same way an old-fashioned fly swatter does.
Obviously, the electric fly swatter uses electricity and an old-fashioned fly swatter uses blunt force trauma. What I mean though is that the electric fly swatter doesn't really kill wasps. What it does though is it stuns them and allows you to dispose of the stunned wasp in the manner of your choosing. I like a good stop with a boot.
The thing I like best is that the electric fly swatters don't require you to move fast. This allows you to sneak up on wasps, bees, horntes, flys, etc., and stun them without throwing your back out or aggravating them.
I don't remember where I purchased my electric fly swatter and there's no brand name to tell you. However, I've found a great option add it's an Amazon Choice item.
Just think, in two days you could be killing wasps bees and flys with ease.

Comfrey (Symphytum officinale), is probably my favorite plant on our homestead. Comfrey can be used for so many things. I'm not going to talk about that in this video though. I want to show you why farmers hate comfrey so much. At least when it gets in their fields.
Comfrey propagates quite well from roots. If even a tiny root is left in the ground, Symphytum officinale or any of the other comfrey variants will find a way to turn into a new plant.
In a previous video, I showed you the process of digging up a comfrey plant and turning it into over 50 cuttings. This is a follow-up video showing where I replanted the original comfrey plant. Notice that all around the original comfrey plant there are new plants emerging. They are coming back from the roots left deep in the soil.

Video Transcript:
"Hey, guys. So I wanted to show you why farmers hate comfrey.
This is the comfrey bed that we pulled that last big ole plant out of right here and after pulling it out we got probably 50 plants off of it. Look right here. All the way around it. You can see... excuse the noise in the background. We've got a lot of fun cars going on. But umm.. All the way around the plant you can see where I cut it with the shovel and the roots were going out. It actually started sending up new plants there.
So, if you can imagine a farmer going through a field and hitting one of these things [comfrey plant] and disking it into thousands of new plants, it would just be unbelievable and you would never eradicate it. Look at this.
Look at this. This is unbelievable. check out that. That's one of the cuttings that I left behind right there. It's barely in the ground with that little root and it's sending up a plant. that is crazy. so that will kind of give you the idea as to why you never plant comfrey anywhere you don't want to have it forever."

When we purchased and moved our mobile home the tongue/hitch was welded to the frame. This video shows you what I did to remove the mobile home hitch by cutting it off with a skillsaw.
It probably would have been easier and faster to cut the mobile home tongue off with a torch but I didn't have that option available to me.
Let me know in the comments section below how you would have removed a welded on mobile home hitch.
