The program aims to implement lightning protection in schools to meet international standards, reducing deaths, injuries, and property damage caused by lightning strikes.
The announcement came during a meeting that the First Lady held with a team from ACLENet, led by the founding Director Prof. Emerita Mary Ann Cooper, a retired Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The ACLENet team's visit aimed to update the Education Minister on their work in Uganda and to discuss their proposed collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports to mitigate lightning hazards in schools.
