Psychotoxic - 07 Central Park - No Commentary Gameplay
No commentary, mostly blind playthrough of Psychotoxic. Played on Windows 10, presented in 4K, normal difficulty.
Psychotoxic, albeit being a German game, could easily pass as the ultimate slavjank game. Released in 2004, this game went through development hell for too long, using an engine meant for pr0n games and mistreated by publishers which trolled the dev team. We are left with a game which looks ok-ish, plays so-so, and looks like it has a trainwreck of a story despite I don't know sh** about it.
Why I don't know sh** about the story? Because I couldn't get the cutscenes to work at all. If I install the codec, the game freezes for extended periods of time, so the better choice was to not install the video codec so the videos don't play at all. The transitions to the videos are still in the game, and even some doors take a long time to open since they must be scripted to not open until the video is done playing. Dragging the video files onto my media player results on playback without sound, so it isn't all that helpful. I achieved the 4K resolution by hex editing some dlls in the game directory, the FoV doesn't look too terrible though, and the weapon FoV is already huge by default in 4:3, so not my fault. For how jank the game is, it surprised me as I didn't face any technical issues at all until nearly the end, where I had to limit the framerate to 60 to avoid an instadeath situation.
According to the back of my game DVD case, 3 of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse have already came, and the 4th is a nuclear bombardment in New York of all places. You have to keep that from happening. You are a girl which seems to be able to enter and manipulate people's dreams, and with that and a bunch of guns you'll kill hundreds of policemen and FBI agents (lol), hobos (lol) and literally anyone in your way.
Game isn't the worst here on the channel by a long stretch, but is lackluster in every single way, and as janky as it could be. There are tons of physics objects in the levels which can and will block doorways forever if you are not careful, and if you lack self preservation, the enemies will tear you a new one in no time.

Lanzado en 2004, este juego pasó un infierno de desarrollo, usando un motor diseñado para juegos pr0nográficos y maltratado por distintos publishers que trolearon al equipo de desarrollo. Nos quedamos con un juego que luce ok, se juega regulín, y que parece que tiene una historia que descarrila por momentos, y eso que no tengo ni p*** idea de ella.
¿Por qué no sé ni mi***a de la historia? Pues porque no pude poner a andar las cutscenes. Si instalo el códec, el juego se congela durante largos periodos, así que la mejor opción fue no instalar el códec para que no se reproduzcan. Las transiciones a los vídeos siguen ahí, y algunas puertas parece que están programadas para que no se abran hasta el vídeo termine, así que tardan en abrirse. Arrastrar los vídeos a mi reproductor resulta en reproducción sin sonido ninguno, así que no ayuda mucho. Conseguí arrancarlo en 4K editando hexadecimalmente algunos ficheros, el FoV no es muy terrible, y el FoV de las armas ya es enorme en 4:3, así que no es mi culpa. Para lo verde que está el juego, me ha sorprendido no sufrir problemas técnicos hasta casi el final, donde tuve que limitar la tasa de fotogramas para evitar una situación de muerte instantánea.
De acuerdo con la trasera de mi DVD del juego, 3 de los 4 jinetes del apocalipsis ya han llegado, y el 4º es un bombardeo nuclear en Nueva York, ¿dónde sino?. Tienes que evitarlo. Eres una chica que parece tener la habilidad de entrar y manipular los sueños de la gente, y con eso y un puñado de armas tendrás que matar cientos de policías y agentes del FBI (lol), sintechos (lol), y literalmente todo el que se ponga en tu camino.
El juego no es peor que ha pasado por el canal de largo, pero le falta una patatita para el kilo en todos los sentidos, y todo lo verde que puede ser. Hay muchos elementos de físicas en los mapas que bloquearán las puertas para siempre si no tienes cuidado, y si no te preocupas por tu bienestar, los enemigos te liquidarán en nada.

Wolfstone 3D is the easter egg included in Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, where you can play original Wolf3d on an arcade machine. It's Wolf3D, but the graphics have been altered so the good guys are the natsis, and the evil ones are Blazkowich and his rebellion friends. Every natsi reference has been also removed from the game. A few levels also had relevant changes and one is completely new

Wolfstone 3D es un huevo de pascua incluído en Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, donde puedes jugar el Wolf3D en una máquina arcade. Es Wolf3D, sólo que los gráficos han sido cambiados para que los buenos sean los natsis y los malos Blazkowich y sus amigos de la rebelión. Tambien se han quitado todas las referencias natsis del juego. Algunos niveles han recibido cambios relevantes y uno es completamente nuevo.

Cybermage: Darklight Awakening is a first person shooter released in 1995, developed by Origin Systems, published by Electronic Arts and produced by none other than Warren Spector. It is a cyberpunk themed shooter with rpg-ish elements. In the year 2044 AD, world governments have fallen apart and the Earth is ruled by ruthless corporations doing anything for profit. However, rebels are fighting against corporate control all over the planet. You awaken in a laboratory while it is under attack and everyone is out to get you, you have a crystal embedded in your head, and also some evil forces led by NeCrom have taken over the city. Who are you? Why are they chasing you?
Cybermage can be described as "Tekwar done right"-ish, while not a great game, as CM is full of jank, at least manages to be functional in everything it tries to do. We have a hub city level, inventory, shops, NPCs that provide you with the plot and the missions, vehicles... Quite an ambitious game for 1995, but the gunplay is not great.

Cybermage: Darklight Awakening es un shooter en primera persona lanzado en 1995, desarrollado por Origin Systems, publicado por Electronic Arts y producido por el mismísimo Warren Spector. Es un juego de temática Cyberpunk con elementos de RPG. Es el año 2044, los gobiernos han caído y el mundo es gobernado por corporaciones sin escrúpulos que harán lo que sea por obtener beneficios. Los rebeldes luchan contra estas corporaciones a lo ancho del planeta. Te despiertas en un laboratorio que está bajo ataque y todo el mundo anda a tu caza y captura, con una piedra incrustada en la frente, y además las fuerzas malvadas de Nekron han tomado la ciudad. ¿Quién eres? ¿Por qué te persiguen?
Cybermage se puede describir como "Tekwar bien", aunque no es un gran juego, ya que CM tiene muchas cosas sin pulir, al menos es funcional en todo lo que pretende hacer. Tenemos un nivel nexo en la ciudad, inventario, tiendas, PNJs que nos propocionan la trama y las misiones, vehículos... Ambicioso para 1995, pero la acción no es muy satisfactoria.

No commentary playthrough of the Wolfenstein 3D: Spear of Destiny official mission pack Return To Danger. Played on I'm A Death Incarnate skill level, using the ECWolf source port, showing all kills* secrets & items (*Don't trust the endgame counter, I don't remember what I did to screw it, I only missed a single enemy in the whole game).
Return to Danger is one of the officially released mission packs for Spear of Destiny by FormGen in 1994. 21 new levels with a complete reskin and "resound" of the whole game. While some of the textures look fine and are shaded fine, the whole thing is way more colorful than og Wolfenstein 3D and makes it look a lot more cartoony if that was possible. It's just more Wolf3D, but weaker at that. It's like a fan made addon, but commercial.

Return to Danger es uno de los packs de misiones oficiales lanzados para Spear of Destiny por Formgen en 1994. 21 nuevos niveles con un reskin completo y de sonidos también. Aunque algunas de las textures lucen bien y tienen buen sombreado, el conjunto es mucho más colorido que el Wolfenstein original y lo hace lucir más caricaturesco si eso fuera posible. Es más Wolfenstein 3D, pero más flojo. Es como un addon hecho por fans, pero comercial.

Mob Enforcer is a shooter running on the Jupiter Engine (No One Lives Forever 2/F.E.A.R.), released for Windows PCs and XBox on 2004 by ValuSoft. You are Jimmy "Machine Gun" DeMora who is an up and coming thug in the Al Capone family. Set in Chicago at the height of the prohibition era, you'll shoot your way through the mean streets on various missions for Al Capone.
NOLF2 was a good game, but I think we can all agree that its strong part was not the gunplay, but that was ok because it was a stealth game before an action one. Then Contract J.A.C.K. came, it was all action and no stealth, and we could see that the shooting lacked, the game was not good, but not terrible either... because the devs knew what they were doing, because they knew the game's strenghts, how the guns worked, how the AI worked. Mob Enforcer uses the same weapons, AI, same foundation... but the devs didn't care about it. So aside the part that this game is a reskin of those games, it does everything else wrong: it's boring, it reuses the all the avaiable levels at least once, the bosses are regular enemies with big health pools, almost every ambush can be dealt with by standing at a safe spot and waiting for the enemies to come. Thankfully, it is super short.

Mob Enforcer es un shooter que corre en el Jupiter Engine (No One Lives Forever 2/F.E.A.R.), lanzado para PCs Windows y XBox en 2004 por Valusoft. Eres "Machine Gun" DeMora, un matón ascendiendo en los rangos de la familia Capone. Situado en Chicago durante la Ley Seca, te abrirás camino disparando a todo lo que se mueva en las calles haciendo diversas misiones para Al Capone.
NOLF2 era un buen juego, pero creo que podemos estar de acuerdo en que los disparos no eran su fuerte, pero estaba bien porque era un juego de sigilo antes que uno de acción. Entonces salio Contract J.A.C.K., todo acción y nada sigilo, y pudimos ver bien las carencias de la acción, el juego no era bueno, pero tampoco era terrible... Porque los desarrolladores sabían lo que estaban haciendo, porque conocían los puntos fuertes del juego, cómo funcionaban las armas, cómo funcionaba la IA. Mob Enforcer usa las mismas armas, IA, misma fundación... pero los desarrolladores pasaron de todo. Así que aparte de que este juego en un reskin de los mencionados, todo lo demás lo hace mal: es aburrido, reusa todos los niveles al menos una vez, los jefes son enemigos normales con mucha vida, casi todas las emboscadas se pueden resolver esperando en un sitio seguro a que vengan los enemigos... Afortunadamente, es muy corto.

Brain Damaged is not the kind of Postal game you were expecting, we get to see the wicked shit that goes inside the Dude's head while he sleeps. BD is a fast boomer shooter that also takes cues for modern ones, with a hook, weapons with gimmicky alt-fires, bunnyhopping, sliding... A pleasant surprise to he honest, and I don't like the Postal games much.

Brain Damaged no es el juego de Postal que esperabas, podremos ver la mierda retorcida que pasa en la cabeza de Dude mientras duerme. BD es un boomer shooter rápido que también toma prestadas cosas de los modernos, con un gancho, armas con secundarios enrevesados, bunnyhopping, deslizamiento... Una sorpresa agradable, y esto viene de una persona a la que no le gustan mucho los Postal.

No commentary playthrough of Black Mesa, can't remember which difficulty I used, so let's say it's medium.
Black Mesa is a complete remake of Half-Life, using the source engine which started development in 2004, initally as a mod. Later on it got Valve's blessing and transitioned to a commercial standalone product. The game would endure development hell for over a decade, getting an initial release in 2015, but missing the Xen section of the game. The completely reimagined Xen section would take another 5 years of development, with the whole thing releasing in 2020.

Black Mesa es un completo remake de Half-Life, usando el motor source, que comenzó su desarrollo en 2004, inicialmente como un mod. Más tarde obtuvo el beneplácito de Valve para convertirse en un producto comercial. El juego atravesó un infierno de desarrollo de más de una década, llegando a un lanzamiento inicial en 2015, pero sin la parte de Xen. La sección completamente reimaginada de Xen llevaría otros 5 años de desarrollo, con el juego completo saliendo en 2020.

Zeno Clash is a first person brawler/shooter running in Valve's Source Engine. It was created by ACE Team in 2009, who you might know for the classic Batman Doom Total Conversion. You play as Ghat, who was grown up by a creature called the Father Mother among many other children. When he discovers what's under the hood, he runs away decided to know more about Father Mother and uncover his dirty deeds before everyone.
Zeno Clash did first person brawling right in its day, and all of it under a very nice setting which really feels like an alien world to discover thanks to its art. It is a nice ride which doesn't overstay its welcome.

Cuando descubre lo que hay debajo del capó, escapa decidido para saber más de Padre Madre y revelar sus trapos sucios delante de todo el mundo.

No commentary playthrough of Marathon, played through the Aleph One source port on PC, "Major Damage" skill level.
Marathon is a 1994 first person shooter for the Macintosh, made by one little studio you might've heard of, called Bungie. It was their second first person game, though their first pure fps. It was known as the "Doom for Mac", as there was no Doom port for the Apple machines. It featured standard gameplay, but you would get background, lore, mission objectives and story through terminals present in the level which got you in contact with AI companions.
This is my second playthrough through this, the first one deemed obsolete before I could publish it. Aleph One was updated, allowing for hardware acceleration and interpolated 60fps motion... So I was definetly not publishing a 30fps playthrough. Other than that, I can't say I liked the game very much at all... The hand drawn sprites didn't age well, the movement is too... TOO floaty and low gravity, the levels are very gimmicky with a few painful puzzles here and there (even requiring rocket jumping! at some spots). I'm looking forward to play the sequel, which is better overall (at least I've been told that).

Playthrough sin comentar de Marathon, jugado PC a través del port Aleph One, dificultad "Major Damage".
Marathon es un shooter de 1994 para Macintosh, hecho por un pequeño estudio del que tal vez hayais oído hablar, llamado Bungie. Era su segundo juego en primera persona, aunque su primer fps puro. Era conocido como el "Doom para Mac", ya que no había port de Doom para las máquinas de Apple. Tenía un gameplay estándar, pero obtenías contexto, historia y los objetivos de las misiones a través de terminales presentes en los niveles con los que nos comunicábamos con diversas IAs.
Este es mi segundo playthrough de esto, el primero se quedó obsoleto antes de lo publicase. Aleph One fue actualizado, permitiendo aceleración por hardware e interpolación de fotogramas para alcanzar 60fps... Así que ni de coña iba a publicar un playthrough a 30fps. Aparte de esto, no puedo decir me haya gustado el juego... los sprites dibujados a mano no han envejecido bien, el movimiento es demasiado... flotante, con MUY poca gravedad, los niveles tienen muchas triquiñuelas y algunos puzzles dolorosos aquí y allá (incluso requiriendo rocket jumping! en alguna ocasión). Tengo ganas de probar la secuela, que al parecer es mejor en todo (o eso me han dicho).

Parece que Lo Wang tiene un gemelo malvado, y este es todo el argumento del addon. 13 nuevos niveles decentes con nombres genéricos si quieres un chute de SW.
