Swapping the Motor for a Hand Crank - 1925 Singer 15K Sphinx Sewing Machine
This beautiful Singer 15K with sphinx decals has a non original electric motor attached that does not suit the aesthetic of the machine so I'll be swapping it out for a hand crank attachment.
Because the electric motor and light bulb are all one unit and self contained, it is reasonably easy to remove. This makes way for the hand wheel attachment to be fitted, all mounted with one bolt.
The hand crank attachment can be purchased new as a reproduction of the originals.

I was servicing this beautiful little Singer Featherweight and I noticed it was making a strange noise, unlike a typical silky smooth Featherweight.
I show the troubleshooting procedure and repair of this particular issue.

The Elna 1 (Grasshopper) shuttle should be lubricated with Kerosene or other compatible lubricant.
I show how to do that, even if you don't have an oil bottle available.
In my last video, I showed oiling the machine with sewing machine oil, including the shuttle race.
After having a good look at the manual, I realised that the shuttle needs lubricating with Kerosene.
This is just a short addendum video to go alongside my previous video here - https://youtu.be/M7hTK0r41D4
I also show two of my Elna oil bottles and take a look at the relevant sections of the manual.

If you're having a issue with the needle hitting the presser foot on the right side, this could be the fix for you. Covers Bernina models 830, 930, 950 and more.
There are also other causes of the issue but this is probably the most common cause that I see.
In this case, it's caused by the stitch change over lever not working as it should.

This Bernina serger 1300MDC is seized tight and I show how to efficiently track down the seizure.
Once tracked down, I can then work at freeing up the seized part.
The procedures shown in this video can be applied to tracking down seizures in any serger / overlocker.
It also shows the importance of lubricating your machine and getting it professionally serviced from time to time.

This beautiful Singer Featherweight Centenary Edition sewing machine had been modified to the point where it is no longer a sewing machine.
This video covers removing the required parts from the donor Featherweight machine.
Part 1 - https://youtu.be/5ctNce1Y4ZU reveals what the machine had been converted to, assessing the donor parts machine and fixing the issue with the machine tripping the mains circuit breaker.

A quick overview and assessment of the 1974 Genie 354 sewing machine. Otherwise known as the Starlet in Europe.
I picked it up recently at a recycle centre and is in unknown mechanical condition. It's quite dirty and I want to just give the machine a quick test to see if there are any major issues or not, and if not, go ahead and restore the machine as much as possible.
The Genie is a nice little compact machine, made in France, with a slide on cover which has a handy compartment to keep the foot controller in. It's everything a sewer would need to do basic to intermediate sewing.
Keep an eye out for more videos on this model.
