Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Tj95HRBwij0 This is the first draft of an original song I am writing all about the fascinating Gingko bilobia. I hope to complete it sometime later this year, but I'm going to take more time with it than I had for the Holy Mushroom Song. Speaking of which, it looks like this is part two of my botanical series. I'm not planning a part three, but it might happen spontaneously. ? Nico

I wrote this piece back in September as a birthday gift for my dad and recorded it using my very rudimentary accordion/djembe skills and a Garageband guitar. In early November (yes, this is Canada, we have snow in November), I decided to film a music video for it. After a month of editing it in my spare time, here it is!
Thanks to my little brother Teo (2:56) for the help with filming and acting. All of the music was written, performed and recorded by me.

Yes, I wrote a song about the winter and published it a week after the spring equinox. Oops. We're still getting freak snows here in BC, though, so I guess I'm not too late...
I wrote the first version of this song in December. It was a very crude acapella recording which I named "Song of the Ice." I finally re-recorded it with a completely different instrumentation, and ended up writing lyrics for it.
If you want to hear the "Song of the Ice," make sure to go check out my Wintersongs EP on Bandcamp, as it includes the earlier versions of this song!

A lot of people seem to have misinterpreted what this song is about. It's not actually about psychedelic mushrooms (which I have never taken and have no desire to take). My main mushroom inspirations were actually Ophiocordyceps unilateralis (a fungus that takes over the minds of ants), and Tricholoma murrillianum (which are tasty).
This video is dedicated to my drama teacher, Robyn Sheppard, who is retiring this year. Thank you for everything you taught our crazy class, Shep. The song was inspired by a short play about mushroom people, written by Ginger and Leo in the aforementioned crazy class.
The wooden mushrooms were made by my little brother Teo. You can order them (or a whole lot of other woodturned stuff, he mainly does bowls) at https://teowoodworks.wordpress.com/
All music written, recorded and produced by me (Nico Ambaruch). Featuring Ginger and Leo (aka The Shrooms) as dancers.

So apparently there's this new craze for sea shanties (now I can say that I liked shanties before they were cool). After a lot of fiddling around with a piece of green cloth, here's my version of "Wellerman."
Please like, share and/or subscribe if you want me to figure out how to use a greenscreen properly. (It ?? my first time using one...)
