US Naval Fire Support - Part 1 - What Are Our Current Capabilities?
Thanks for watching Learning Military! The US Navy is tasked with providing naval fire support for troops landing ashore during an amphibious assault. There have been a lot of programs that the US Navy has tried to come up with to support the Marine Corps as they are conducting an amphibious landing. In this first part of this military research, we will look at the current capabilities of naval gunfire support as we look at the Tomahawk cruise missile and the naval support that a destroyer or cruiser can bring to bear onto the enemy and look at the military specifications of the weapons used aboard these ships. In addition, we will also look at USMC requirement for the navy to provide effective support.
Hopefully, this military documentary formatted video will help you learn something new about US military power or even the united states military as a whole.

Wargames and plans obviously exist for how to invade Iran but that information is understandably classified. After all, we don’t want to telegraph what we will do and when but there is still a lot of relevant information that is available. For example, we know what challenges an invasion force will have to face and what it will take to be successful. So if you’ve made it this far, please stay with me.
While we have focused up to this point on the air force and the navy, that's not to say that the army has been out of the picture. In this scenario, the army has been sending some soldiers to the area, likely to Saudi Arabia with patriot missile batteries, HIMARS and attack helicopters. Obviously, a much larger ground force would be needed.
One issue I think the military would press for is having the right sized force. One article I found argued that the 250,000 forces the Pentagon got in 2003 to Invade Iraq was not enough. That 500,000 was really needed especially for the occupation. So when you consider that Iran has twice the population and is about the size of the entirety of Western Europe, we’re going to need a lot more forces than the 120,000 that has been floated around or even the 250,000 that was used in Iraq. The number of forces needed was laid out in an article on ThinkProgress.org where Gil Barndollar Director of Middle East Studies at the Center for the National Interest and who served as US Marine Corp Infantry Officer wrote on the topic.
He argues that the 600,000 service members that comprise the active duty forces of the US Army and Marine Corps are not enough to invade iran. Even with the mobilization of the entire National Guard and reserves, he still would not be comfortable invading Iran. He argued that to have the appropriately sized force, we would need a draft.

It’s been widely known that the United States Navy’s most important ship-building project is the new Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine. In this episode of Learning Military, I’ll share with you what makes this new class of submarines so important. What do we know about the capabilities of these ships? What are their specifications? What are some of the challenges facing the Navy in getting it produced?

In this episode of learning military, we'll take a look at a United States war with Iran to the next level by looking at the challenges the united states military, particularly the United States army would face in megacity warfare during an invasion of Iran by focusing on a battle of Tehran. With urban warfare tactics lacking and urban operations army training needing to improve, city combat in megacities would be a significant challenge in a war with iran and usa. Should the iran conflict escalate to an iran invasion, the iran vs usa conflict would include some of the heaviest city combat we have likely seen to date. But check out this video for more detail on the challenges of megacity warfare.

In this episode of learning military, we are going to review the National Defense Strategy. Last released in 2018, this government document released by the Department of Defense under then US Defense Secretary Mattis, showcases American's way of war and what the armed forces will be focused on as we change to focus on great power competition. The Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force will each be influenced by this document and it is important to our national defense that this is understood by all. If you wish to read a summary of the document, here is where you can find it.

Thanks for watching Learning Military! The US Military has by far the largest defense budget in the world. For example, the National Defense budget is estimated to be $646 Billion in 2020 up by $15 Billion from 2019. But when you look at military pay and other labor expenses, it isn't as large as a lot of people think. In this military research episode, I'll break down the costs the United States pays for military personnel and how that compares to other countries like Russia.
You'll find us military spending in a number of current events and on the news so understanding the military budget will impact the army, navy, air force, marine corps and other parts of the department of defense. Hopefully, this military documentary formatted video will help you learn something new!

Welcome back to Learning Military! With events like the USS Boxer attack, the Iran tanker attack or tanker seizure and other things taking place in the middle east, I wanted to know how a war with Iran would play out. I found wargame after-action reports, congressional reports, interviews, research publications and was able to piece together a US Iran war. Due to the level of detail I'm choosing to go into, this scenario will consist of two parts. In this episode, we'll take a look at how the war could escalate to an air campaign that the United States Air Force and United States Navy would have to conduct. In part two we will look at the ground campaign and who will win.
What will we see out of Trump Iran and others who will be involved? Who will control the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz? You'll have to watch to find out.

Last week, President Donald Trump launched the U.S. Space Command or SPACECOM as a combatant command. However, others are calling on congress to create a branch of the armed forces called the Space Force or the Space Corps. In this episode of learning military, we'll look at what a USSF would do for the United States military. While we are not sure of a start date, we can see why it is needed to confront China, Russia and other countries who are putting anti-satellite strategy at the forefront of their national defense. The Department of Defense though has a challenge ahead of them when it comes to the transfer of personnel, budget and other aspects of creating the organization. We'll also look how the DoD could organize the space force within the Air Force or outside of the USAF as a department of the military. However, the low cost could make the overall cost to the USA well worth it as a unified doctrine, strategy, recruitment and training will improve how space is leveraged for all. You'll see more in the news pretty soon about a militarized space and what the US can do to improve its position
