Another Steve Good pattern. A potpourri box to be gifted to a friend. My wife choose this as my next project and video. It is not difficult. I cut the leaves all the way through the lid. Steve did not and his is very nice. I like both results. Anyone that wants to do this can do it either way. I like to play around with patterns and do things a little different sometimes. This is a small difference but I like the results. Link to pattern below https://www.stevedgood.com/potpourri.pdf

While searching Youtube for pen box videos I found one by @izzyswan that I liked. He cut it on a band saw and I thought that maybe I could do it on a scroll saw. It was not really easy to cut on my scroll saw but I did get it cut . He did a much better job with his but I think I did ok for a first try. I should have made a better jig to drill the holes for the pegs the pieces swivel on and got one very slight off. If I make it again I will improve on that. But, the box works as it should. He has the pattern available at this link,

This bowl has a central accent ring. The designer of this bowl, Carole Rothman, used a no void plywood for the ring. I was not able to find a suitable plywood. I tried some 3/4 baltic birch but did not like the look that it gave, not enough contrast between layers. So, I made my own plywood with some 1/8 walnut and 1/8 aspen. It is still not as good an effect as hers but I went with it. This bowl has multiple angles and a top ring inverted to give the shape. The top inverted ring is where I made an error. I applied the pattern to the incorrect side of the blank and made the maple line come out above the accent ring instead of just below the lip of the bowl. Again, I went with it. But lesson learned, be aware of the orientation of the ring in the bowl when applying patterns and cutting. Other than that I am pleased with the finished product.

I have wanted to try to make one of these ramp walker toys for a while. I was not confident that I would build one that works, not sure about the process that makes it walk. But I was able to make it walk "right out of the box". I did trim the swing leg a little with a chisel after assembly to make it work a little better. The pattern for this hedgehog came from the Spring 2021 issue of "Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts magazine", issue number 82. It also has an armadillo walker pattern.

In this video I use a Steve Good kinetic art pattern and try to modify it to work off of a wind driven propeller. By the end of this I have not yet done that but will try modifications to accomplish it in another video. I will first try a five blade propeller and then it that does not work I will retrofit ball bearing on the shafts. If none of that works I will have to alter the pattern to take a larger propeller and maybe try different gear ratios or a pulley and rubber band combination to make it work.
The original pattern link is below.

In this video I combine three of my favorites, boxes, fretwork and Christmas. It is a Steve Good pattern, I will have a link below. I made the base and fretwork from walnut and used aspen for the liner. It is coated with clear enamel which darkens the walnut and brings out the grain in both woods.

This week I have been behind on everything and mainly video making and woodworking. With a holiday and heavy mowing to do due to heavy rains this spring and lawn mower problems I have been playing catchup for days. I started this box last week to replace the last one I sold at the consignment shop so I jumped in the middle of the project to make a video with it. Again, I am making the blank from various scraps of 3/4 in pieces. Every time I do one of these it is different. I used pegs to attach the lid, I make most of them that way but sometimes use a magnet in conjuction with a swivel peg. I cut the shape out of the blank in one piece. I intended to cut the bottom off with the table saw, use a large hole saw to make the cavity of the box and use some 1/4 inch cedar for the lid. However, when I put it on the table saw I cut the top instead of the bottom. So, I cut both top and bottom and cut the cavity with the scroll saw. I like the way the lid matches the box and may do this from now on. I sanded it all with a flexible pad sander and finished it with spray poly.
