The Carpool Dummy
Written and performed by
Dan D. Dirges
Well I`m so sick and tired of getting stuck in traffic
So I had an idea that was so fantastic
I bought a blow up doll from the local sex shop
Got her in some clothes, put a wig on top
I`m gonna fool them cops wait an see
With my carpool dummy riding next to me
Well I blew my baby doll up full of air
She was looking mighty fine like she just dont care
I lit up a smoke put it tween her lips
Sounds kinda crazy but its worth the risk
I`m gonna fool them cops wait and see
With my carpool dummy riding next to me
I was cruising along doing sixty five
Thouh the freeway was jammed I never broke my stride
People looked at me like I`d gone insane
But I bet they only wish they had half my brains.
I`m gonna fool them cops yes siree
With my carpool dummy riding next to me
Well the cops were making their highway checks
When the smoke fell out and burned a hole in her dress
Well they pulled me over for to have a look
When she started to deflate my goose was cooked
Say could you let me slide here this one time
I`ll lose the carpool dummy and I`ll fall in line
Well the judge never thought it all that funny
He said open up your wallet lets see some money
When I got back home I patched up my dummy
Much to my surprise she called me honey
Well I can feel the love its starting to grow
For my carpool dummy who will never say no
=================================
Oh man this ones crazy! lol - Guy buys a blow up doll and puts her in the passenger seat to try and fool the cops so he can ride in the carpool lane but gets caught and hit with a hefty fine but there`s a happy ending. Turns out his blow up doll can talk and they end up falling in love and living happily ever after! hahaha - Get a chance to play power chords in this one too!

For One Who Never Was - lyrics
Written and Performed by
Dan D. Dirges
Guitar Fingerpicking and Vocal
Harry was large, stood six foot four
Had a grotesque face, in his head he fought a war
He lived next door, in the room next to mine
He seldom went out, he preferred to stay inside
Where he`d sing to the stars, through his apartment window
People stopped to hear, from the street below
Will it takes a kinds to make the world go rough
Fate can be so cold
Many faces I`ve seen, many places I`ve been
I`ve never met a man so strange
As Harry Jones
I asked him once, how things were
He said I`m ok, though I`m not so sure
Then he looked in the mirror and began to weep
When I asked what`s wrong, he said I don`t believe
Then he asked me strange, what love was like
I said it`s ok, he bowed his head and cried
Will it takes a kinds to make the world go rough
Fate can be so cold
Many faces I`ve seen, many places I`ve been
I`ve never met a man so strange
As Harry Jones
At Christmas time, he`d decorate the hallways
Sing Yule songs, to pass the time away
Though he went no where and no one came around
This time of year, some happiness he found
When the shotgun blast, shook the pictures on the wall
The stars cried out, for what they saw
Will it takes a kinds to make the world go rough
Fate can be so cold
Many faces I`ve seen, many places I`ve been
I`ve never met a man so strange
As Harry Jones

Mississippi River Blues is a song written by Jimmie Rodgers. Many have covered this over the years. My personal favorite version is by Rich (Little Orley), here on YouTube. He sings and plays guitar and I added the Russian Trump harp and video to make it a collab. I had lost my Russian Trump harp for over a year and the other day I found it right in the middle of the floor. I think my Cats were in collusion together to hide my Russian Trump harp. BTW, the best Trump harps are made in Russia. No evidence yet that Russia is going to force President Trump into learning how to play the Russian Trump Harp.

JIMMIE RODGERS
"Mississippi River Blues" - lyrics
The Mississippi River Blues...
Oh you Mississippi river with water so deep and wide
My thoughts of you keep rising just like an evening tide
I'm just like a seagull that's left the sea
Oh, your muddy waters, they keep on calling me
I'm going to pack my grip and head that way
You'll see me hanging 'round again some day
'Cause I know that's the only way to lose
The Mississippi River Blues
The Mississippi River Blues...
I've often ridden on your bosom from Memphis down to New Orleans
Dreaming over muddy waters flowing through familiar scenes
And when I hear the whistle of an old steamboat
Down that Mississippi River again I'm going to float
I'm going to pack my grip and head that way
You'll see me hanging 'round again some day
'Cause I know that's the only way to lose
The mean old Mississippi River Blues
The Mississippi River Blues...

Here is a song I wrote after my Grandma went home to be with Jesus. Sometimes I still think she comes around to pay a visit. Acoustic guitar and vocal. I probably talked to much during the intro and outro so please skip those parts if you want. It`s just nice to have someone to talk to sometimes. Previously known as, She Still Comes Around. Now I call it, Never Far Away, thanks to Daniel Kelly`s suggestion!
She Still Comes Around
Written and performed by Dan D. Dirges
Deep in the ground, thats where she is now but its alright.
She still comes around.
There in the night, when all the world is quiet and asleep.
She still comes around.
I listen for the wind blow. The rustle of the leaves. Now I know
you are not very far, far away, mmm mmm mmm
She left me in the spring, when life is like a dream, to good to be real.
She promised she`d return again if I kept the fire burning bright.
Somewhere in the night.
So I light a sacred candle. Place it on a shrine. Now I know you are
not very far, far away, mmm mmm mmm
Down by a stream, I listen to the trees, they whisper low.
She still comes around, and so I sit and wait for Heaven to open
up it`s magic gate. Then she`ll come around
The stream is flowing backwards, back into the past,
now I know you are not very far, far away, mmm mmm mmm

Many different lyrics and ways to play Lonesome Valley. Here I play it on a homemade banjo with a wooden top so it sounds more like a dulcimer. The intonation is slightly off so it probably sounds a little out of tune. Also my webcam freezes sometimes. I recently had to upgrade my windows 7 computer to windows 10. It was free and overall the computer works better now but many of my installed programs dont work as good, like my webcam capture software. This software I used here is Debut video pad. I cant recommend it. I just got, YouCam from ebay for 99 cents but havent tried it out yet.
Lonesome Valley - lyrics
You gotta walk that lonesome valley,
You gotta walk it by yourself,
Nobody here can walk it for you,
You gotta walk that lonesome valley
by yourself.
Some people say, John was a Baptist,
Some folks say he was a Jew,
But your holy scripture it will tell you
That he was a preacher too.
You gotta walk that lonesome valley,
You gotta walk it by yourself,
Nobody here can walk it for you,
You gotta walk that lonesome valley
by yourself.
Daniel was a Bible hero,
Was a prophet brave and true,
In a den of hungry lions
Proved what faith can do for you.
You gotta walk that lonesome valley,
You gotta walk it by yourself,
Nobody here can walk it for you,
You gotta walk that lonesome valley
by yourself.
There is a road that leads to glory
Through a valley far away,
Nobody else can walk it for you,
They can only point the way.
You gotta walk that lonesome valley,
You gotta walk it by yourself,
Nobody here can walk it for you,
You gotta walk that lonesome valley
by yourself.

I Still Love You
written and performed by
Dan D. Dirges
Today the sun was shining golden yellow rays of light just like it did back then
When you and I went walking as we talked about life. I can still remember when
Now I walk this earth all along without you and I`m wondering if sometimes
You remember to, just like I do
It took some time to leave it all behind but now i`ve learned nothing lasts forever
And even though I no longer have you with me now, I can still remember
I still think I see you everywhere I go but I know its only my heart
Yearning so that wont let go
So many things I should and said and done but I cant turn back the hands of time
And so I guess i`ll just have to let you go it does no good to sit and wonder why
Now I walk this earth all along without you and I`m hoping that sometimes
You will remember to, just like I do...I still love you

(0:45 to skip intro): Go Tell Aunt Rhody, also known as Aunt Rhody is a well know traditional folk song. I play it on mountain banjo, two finger index lead and kind of sad like after a short intro.
Go Tell Aunt Rhody - Traditional - lyrics
performed by: Dan D. Dirges
Go tell Aunt Rhody,
Go tell Aunt Rhody,
Go tell Aunt Rhody
The old gray goose is dead.
The one she's been saving,
The one she's been saving,
The one she's been saving
To make a feather bed.
The goslings are mourning,
The goslings are mourning,
The goslings are mourning,
Because their mother's dead.
The old gander's weeping,
The old gander's weeping,
The old gander's weeping,
Because his wife is dead.
She died in the mill pond,
She died in the mill pond,
She died in the mill pond
From standing on her head.
Go tell Aunt Rhody,
Go tell Aunt Rhody,
Go tell Aunt Rhody
The old gray goose is dead.

Lately I`ve become a big fan of Jim Ringer. He would often perform and record with Mary McCaslin. He sang folk songs and country songs. Bugler is a song I think he wrote but not sure. It`s a song about a boy and his Dog. Anyway I sing and play it on the guitar.
Buglar - Jim Ringer - lyrics
Back when cattle creek used to sing, the water was sweet and the banks were clean and sunny days went on forever.
Well me and ol` Buglar we run wild, a blue kick hound and a red neck child. Thought that we were birds of a feather.
The fish would bite, my how they`d bite and we`d catch possums in the pale moonlight for Nora, just to please her.
Ol` Buglars voice like Gabriels horn, up through the cypress and down through the corn, are golden sounds I`ll always treasure.
Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.
Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.
One day Nora brought the news, says honey ol` Buglar`s gone and paid his dues. Got hit by a car down on the highway.
You dry your eyes and stand up straight. Buglar`s got a place at the pearly gates. Say goodbye now sugar, say goodbye.
Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.
Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.
Goodbye now Buglar, you think I`m gonna cry about you? You never was nothin` but an ol` mongrell hound dog anyhow. Never could catch nothing but possums. I`m practically grown now, I can get me a good dog. Goodbye Buglar.
Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.
Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.

Whiskey In The Jar is an old traditional folk song. I forgot how to strum so I fingerpicked this one. But its usually played a lot rowdier than this.
Whiskey in the Jar - lyrics
As I was a-goin' over kilgarra mountains
I met Colonel Pepper and his money he was counting
I drew forth my pistol and I rattled my sabre
Saying "stand and deliver, for I am a bold deceiver"
Musha ringum duram da
Whack-fall the daddy-o
Whack-fall the daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar
The shining yellow coins sure did look bright and jolly
I took the money home and I gave it to my Molly
She promised and she vowed that she never would deceive me
But the devil's in the women for they never can be easy
Musha ringum duram da
Whack-fall the daddy-o
Whack-fall the daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar
When I awoke between the hours of six and seven
Guards were standing 'round me in numbers odd and even
I flew to my pistols, but alas I was mistaken
I fired off my pistols and a prisoner was taken
Musha ringum duram da
Whack-fall the daddy-o
Whack-fall the daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar
They put me in jail without a judge or jury
For robbing Colonel Pepper in the morning so early
They didn't take my fist so I knocked down the sentry
And I bid a long farewell to that cold penitentiary
Musha ringum duram da
Whack-fall the daddy-o
Whack-fall the daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar
Some take delight in fishing and bowling
Others take delight in carriage a-rollin'
I take delight in the juice of the barley
Courting pretty women in the morning so early
Musha ringum duram da
Whack-fall the daddy-o
Whack-fall the daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar
