Get inspired with episode 360 of the Inspirational Living podcast: The secret of Doing Really Great Tings. Edited and adapted from Working With God by Gardner Hunting.
Podcast Excerpt: That "haste makes waste" is an old aphorism. It’s often said that a person who says or does unkind, mean, or cruel things on the spur of the moment (without malice afterwards) is that they are "hasty." Hasty words, hasty acts, make trouble. Why? Because they are usually said or done without reference to the Spirit within — in disregard of the still small voice of conscience.
Of course there are impulsive words and deeds that are good. There are instantaneous responses to unexpected situations that are exactly right. There are sound decisions that lose nothing by being swift. But these are quite different from things that are done in a hurry. And rare indeed is the case in which it would not have been better to wait until we knew what was right. Some wise person once said that nothing is ever lost by patience. But we do know that much is often lost by rush. To rush is to be rash.

Listen to episode 90 of the Inspirational Living podcast: How to Be Charming to Women and Men. Edited and adapted from The Man Who Pleases and The Woman Who Fascinates by John Albert Cone.
Podcast Excerpt: t is almost the definition of a gentleman and lady to say that they are ones who never inflict pain. They carefully avoid whatever may cause a jar or a jolt in the minds of those with whom they are with, keeping an eye on the sensibilities of all their company. They are tender toward the bashful, gentle toward the distant, and merciful toward the absurd. They avoid unreasonable allusions on topics which may irritate; they are seldom prominent in conversation, and never wearisome.
Another delightful trait of the true lady and gentleman is that they make light of favors when they bestow them, and seem to be receiving when they are conferring. They never speak of themselves except when compelled, never defend themselves by a mere retort. They have no ears for slander or gossip; are scrupulous in imputing motives to those who interfere with them, and interprets everything for the best.

Every person who has made the grade in professional life (be it an artist, scientist, or entrepreneur), has done so because they had endurance. Of course, they became tired; of course, the way became long and the road dusty; but the power of endurance carried them on, and victory was finally achieved. Do not give up.

Listen to episode 317 of the Inspirational Living podcast: How to Be Joyful All the Time. Edited and adapted from The Springs of Joy by Robert F. Horton.
Podcast Excerpt: There is a higher truth. There is a realm of reality which is lifted above the things perceived by our senses and the experiences of human life. There is a joy and light and music in the waters, which do not rise within the city but come from the eternal hills beyond. It is that kind of everlasting joy which I would like to talk about today.
It must be evident to everyone that we can only maintain joyfulness by living above the actual facts and events of human life. If we are immersed in them (completely immersed), there cannot be perpetual joy. There may be an occasional touch of pleasure. There may even sometimes be rich, transient delights. But human life is so constructed of cares and sufferings and sorrows that (if we are to live completely immersed within it) perpetual joy is impossible.

To desire is to obtain. To aspire is to achieve. Dream lofty dreams. And as you dream, so shall you become. The greatest achievements were at first a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn. The bird waits in the egg. And in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Your dreams are the seedlings of your reality.

Listen to episode 270 of the Inspirational Living podcast: Gratitude Life Lessons | Overcoming Ingratitude. Edited and adapted from “The Power of Truth” by William George Jordan.
Podcast Excerpt: Gratitude is being thankful, and then turning that feeling into action. It is the instinctive radiation of justice — giving new life and energy to the individual from whom it emanates. It is the heart's recognition of kindness that the lips cannot repay. Gratitude never counts its payments. It realizes that no debt of kindness can ever be outlawed, ever be canceled, ever paid in full.
Gratitude ever feels the insignificance of its installments — ingratitude the nothingness of the debt. Gratitude is the flowering of the seed of kindness. Ingratitude is the dead inactivity of a seed dropped on a stone.
