With the bungling of Build Back Better and the resurgence of COVID the Biden administration appears to be a huge mess. However, there is one thing that we can say Biden is doing exceptionally well.

Sam: just to head into 2022 with a decent thing to say about Joe Biden. I think these completely screwed up the build-back better initiative. We said this at the time in the spring when they opened the doors to republicans. it was useless and stupid. and it has proven to be a disaster. I think what they're doing with covid right now is also a bit of a mess. at least in terms of how it impacts people. we'll see we'll have a better sense in a couple of weeks. but this is not the approach that I would take. however, the one unequivocally good thing I could say about Joe Biden is that they took the job of putting federal judges on the bench seriously. Biden has put more people into lifetime federal judgeships, writes the huff post than decades of past presence. His court picks also easily the most diverse mix of people put on the federal bench by any u.s president. both in terms of race ethnicity gender and in my mind most importantly also in terms of the mix of backgrounds in terms of the law. Biden's confirmed 40-lifetime federal judges this year 11 appeals court judges 29 district court judges. Trump had a total of 18 appeals in district judges in his first year. Obama had 12. George W Bush had 28. Bill Clinton 27. George Herbert Walker Bush 15. and Reagan tied with Biden at 40. public defenders, voting rights lawyers, union organizers, native Americans, black women, LGBTQ nominees, Muslim Americans. of the 40 judges confirmed 32 are women 27 people of color 21 women of color and 27 have professionally diverse backgrounds. 15 are former public defenders. That's great. Now Stephen Breyer could get his head out of his buttocks. and resign. That's gotta happen relatively quickly.
