#EvergreenStateCollege #BretWeinstein #BenjaminBoyce In 2017, protests erupted at Evergreen State College over Professor Bret Weinstein's criticism of a change to the college's annual "Day of Absence". Typically, students of color left campus to discuss diversity issues and to demonstrate what campus would be like without them contributing. However that year, white students were asked to leave campus. Weinstein wrote a letter that was made public, which read in part, "There is a huge difference between a group or coalition deciding to voluntarily absent themselves from a shared space in order to highlight their vital and underappreciated roles.... and a group encouraging another group to go away." This led to days of protests that shut down campus. Benjamin Boyce was a student at the time and produced a documentary about the events.
