# ***Pavement Biography***
***Pavement*** is an American indie rock band that formed in *[Stockton, California](https://cutt.ly/kAcQ2T5)*, in 1989. For most of their career, the group consisted of ***[Stephen Malkmus](https://cutt.ly/wAcWVDV)*** (vocals and guitar), ***[Scott Kannberg](https://cutt.ly/NAcW1zU)*** (guitar and vocals), ***[Mark Ibold](https://cutt.ly/RAcW0al)*** (bass), ***[Steve West](https://cutt.ly/rAcW2Jk)*** (drums), and ***[Bob Nastanovich](https://cutt.ly/bAcW3NZ)*** (percussion and vocals).
With their fractured songs, unexpected blasts of feedback, laconic vocals, cryptic literate lyrics, and defiant low-fidelity, ***Pavement***, along with ***[Sebadoh](https://cutt.ly/bAcW7TL)***, were the leaders of the *lo-fi* movement that dominated the U.S. *indie rock* in the early '90s.
> Listening to ***“Slanted & Enchanted”*** is like listening to a college radio station that you can barely tune in - melodies are interrupted by shards of white noise, only to have a simple hook pull everything back into focus.
> Surrounded by fuzzy, noisy guitars, white noise, and ***Malkmus*** languid vocals, the pure pop melodies sound foreign, but the production gives context to the gorgeous melancholy.
>
> Some listeners may initially find the *lo-fi* sound of the record inaccessible, but the sheer strength of ***Pavement's*** songs settles in after a few plays.

# ***"Autumn's Grey Solace" Biography***
***“Autumn's Grey Solace”*** is an American ethereal wave and *dream pop* duo from ***[St. Augustin, Florida](https://cutt.ly/ZQ2Mryv)***. It consists of soprano vocalist ***Erin Welton*** and multi-instrumentalist ***Scott Ferrell***. His musicianship along with her crystal clear vocals, blend together to create a hybrid of shoegazing melodies textured with ethereal soundscapes.
Exploring the music of ***AGS*** is like awakening yourself to beauties you never knew slumbered inside you. At the center of this galaxy is a gathering of light by which is obliterated your darkest fears. It’s a visceral, celestial body that thrives on language, melody, and the generative force of which we all partake in being born.
The band’s sixth full length collection of luscious darkwave compositions built on swelling emotional moods ranging from beautifully tranquil to darkly morose, tells the tale of early Earth, from ***"[Archean Earth](https://cutt.ly/iQ296RO)"*** and ***"[Faint Young Sun](https://cutt.ly/rQ23wQN)"*** to ***"[Holocene](https://cutt.ly/iQ23QyW)"*** and ***"[Fauna](https://cutt.ly/LQ23W0j)"***.
> ***“Eifelian”*** vast wilderness, lonely yet peaceful, a serene planet, and lies on the darker side of the ***“Autumn’s Grey Solace”*** sound with an ample amount of melancholy tones.
>
> The close, intimate flow of the album's 14 songs suggests less of a direct evocation of that crush of time as it does a dreamy reflection on time and timelessness. From the start, ***Welton's*** heavily treated vocal sighs and ***Ferrell's*** acoustic/electric arrangements of classic gauzy shimmer never fully reinvent the form but elegantly explore it, a near hour's worth of enjoyably melancholic contemplations for late summer afternoons.

# ***The Stone Roses Biography***
***The Stone Roses*** were an English rock band formed in **[Manchester](https://cutt.ly/pEJ1ytv)** in 1983. One of the pioneering groups of the ***[Madchester movement](https://cutt.ly/CEJ1skE)*** in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the band's classic and most prominent lineup consisted of vocalist ***[Ian Brown](https://cutt.ly/VEJ1fkt)***, guitarist ***[John Squire](https://cutt.ly/uEJ1jrj)***, bassist ***[Mani](https://cutt.ly/EEJ1lyI)*** and drummer ***[Reni](https://cutt.ly/AEJ1xN4)***.
Meshing '60s-styled guitar pop with an understated '80s *dance beat*, the ***Stone Roses*** defined the *British guitar pop* scene of the late '80s and early '90s.
***The Stone Roses*** emerged from the remains of ***English Rose***, a Manchester-based band formed by schoolmates ***Squire*** and ***Brown***.
The group began playing warehouses around *Manchester*, cultivating a dedicated following rather quickly. Around this time, the group was a cross between classic British '60s *guitar pop* and *heavy metal*, with touches of *goth rock*.
In December 1986 they recorded their first demo as a four-piece, including the first studio recordings of “***[Sugar Spun Sister](https://cutt.ly/oEIrEVR)***” and “***[Elephant Stone](https://cutt.ly/REIrbPq)***”. By the time the group's sound had changed considerably, with chiming guitar hooks and a strong melody, alienating some of their old fans, but attracting many new ones.
> Again, in 1994. ***The Stone Roses*** create a dense tapestry of interweaving guitars and pulsing bass grooves, but there's no denying that ***"Second Coming"*** is a bit of a letdown. None of the songs are quite as strong as the best on their debut, but there is plenty of good music on the band's much-delayed second record.
> While the songs occasionally take a back seat to the grooves, several tracks - ***"[Ten Storey Love Song](https://cutt.ly/hEIu943)"***, ***"[Begging You](https://cutt.ly/UEIiqZP)"***, ***"[Tightrope](https://cutt.ly/sEIieCk)"***, ***"[How Do You Sleep](https://cutt.ly/1EIiiCg)"*** and ***"[Love Spreads](https://cutt.ly/BEIipyr)"*** rank as true classics.
>
> It might not be the long-awaited masterpiece it was rumored to be, but ***“Second Coming”*** is a fine sophomore effort.

Copping their name from ***[William S. Burroughs](https://cutt.ly/knKjvcv)*** euphemism for ejaculation, ***"Thin White Rope"*** was founded in Davis, California in 1984. Although the time and place of their formation aligned them with both the Paisley Underground and roots rock movements, the group quickly staked out its own musical territory, divining their own unique brand of dark, surreal, desert rock.
***"Thin White Rope"*** was led by singer/guitarist ***[Guy Kyser](https://cutt.ly/UnHksbT)***, whose harsh, tightly coiled vocals and unsettling lyrics combined to give the band its edge; in the group's first incarnation, Kyser was joined by guitarist ***[Roger Kunkel](https://cutt.ly/ynHkhgk)***, bassist ***Kevin Staydohar*** (soon replaced by ***Steven Tesluk***), and drummer ***Jozef Becker***.
***"The One That Got Away"*** is the sixth and last full-length album by ***"Thin White Rope"***. The double CD is a recording of the band's last show and was recorded live on 28 June 1992, at ***"[Democrazy](https://www.democrazy.be/)"*** in Gent, Belgium.
It comprises the entire show, except for ***"[The Ruby Sea](https://cutt.ly/RmurPu0)"*** and ***"[Moonhead](https://cutt.ly/SmuraTl)"***, which were released as a 7" vinyl single, and ***"Thing"***, which has never been released in any format to date.
Most interestingly, the recording's surprisingly high quality reveals that much of the slickness of the band's album work is due not so much to production, but to the band's presentation itself - as their rhythm section churns through tight rock workouts, guitars lay smooth, atmospheric textures above them in a live format.
It was hot, it was sweaty, it was unforgettable!
***”It's OK”*** is the twenty-first song on ***”Thin White Rope”*** fourth album, ***"[The One That Got Away (Live In Gent)](https://cutt.ly/ImurLim)"***, released under the ***"[Frontier Records](https://cutt.ly/inKjjFP)"*** in 1992.

"***New Order***"are an English rock band formed in 1980 by vocalist and guitarist ***[Bernard Sumner](https://cutt.ly/9b9XrVA)***, bassist ***[Peter Hook](https://cutt.ly/9b9XrVA)*** and drummer ***[Stephen Morris](https://cutt.ly/eb9XiCi)***. The band formed after the demise of post-punk band ***"[Joy Division](https://cutt.ly/eb9XiCi)"***, following the suicide of lead singer ***Ian Curtis***; they were joined by ***[Gillian Gilbert](https://cutt.ly/mb9XsDe)*** on keyboards later that year.
***”New Order's”*** integration of post-punk with electronic and dance music made them one of the most acclaimed and influential bands of the 1980s.
Embracing the electronic textures and disco rhythms of the underground club culture many years in advance of its contemporaries, the group's pioneering fusion of new wave aesthetics and dance music successfully bridged the gap between the two worlds, creating a distinctively thoughtful and oblique brand of synth pop appealing equally to the mind, body, and soul.
***”Low-Life”*** is the band’s third studio album, released on 13 May 1985 by Manchester-based British independent record label ***“[Factory Records](https://cutt.ly/cb9XM6P)”***. . It is considered to be among the band's strongest work, displaying the moment they completed their transformation from post-punk hold-overs to dance-rockers.
Even as more and more synth-heavy groups like ***"Eurythmics"*** and ***"Pet Shop Boys"*** began approaching ***"New Order's"*** expertise with the proper care of electronics in pop music, the band still sounded like none other.
***"[This Time of Night](https://cutt.ly/intq1g1)"*** and ***"[Elegia](https://cutt.ly/1ntq0Kq)"*** evoked the dark, nocturnal mood of the album's title and artwork, but none could call them mopey when they pushed as hard as they did on ***"[Sunrise](https://cutt.ly/mntq81L)".***
But there was no mistaking that ***"New Order"*** had reached a peak, experimenting with their sound and their style, but keeping every moment wrapped in an unmistakable humanness.
***”Sooner Than You Think”*** is the sixth song on the band’s third studio album ***"[Low Life](https://cutt.ly/Jnevex1)"***, released on 13 May 1985 by Manchester-based British independent record label ***“[Factory Records](https://cutt.ly/cb9XM6P)”***.
