TÜNEL: World's Second and Istanbul's Oldest Subway
The short funicular trip that takes you from the Karaköy to Taksim is the oldest subway in Istanbul built in 1870's and according to many is the second surviving underground line in the world. The funicular climbs up a hill that was a daily challenge for commute and ever since has been used by people of Istanbul. After almost 150 years this line is still operational and is integrated into the public transportation system of the city and it is a major attraction also for people visiting Istanbul. Spare few minutes and take a round trip from Taksim to Karaköy and back.
