North Idaho has an abundance of small but spectacular waterfalls. If you happen to visit North Idaho, and find yourself nearby, Myrtle Falls is definitely worth stopping to see. Myrtle Falls is near the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge, a short distance from Bonners Ferry. Myrtle Falls or Myrtle Creek Falls is beautiful.
The trail head to the water fall is about a tenth of a mile from the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge visitor center, There trail that is initially paved, up to the bridge, and becomes a well-maintained, but somewhat steep trail. It’s less than a half mile to the waterfall. The walk is suitable for most skill levels. (Though it gets icy in the winter.) Once at the viewing platform, a 100-foot-high waterfall cascades down the canyon into Myrtle creek below.
