Davos Depopulation and Climate Crisis Talk is Disturbing and Inaccurate
The World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos concluded leaving some commentators concerned about depopulation talk from high profile individuals like Jane Goodall, misinterpreted IPCC SR1.5 findings by Greta Thunberg, and talk of doomsday battles by Al Gore. Roger Pielke, Jr. has written an interesting story in Forbes, showing that climate catastrophe and depopulation notions stem from the most extreme computer simulated scenarios, known as Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5 - RCP 8.5, and how this became 'mainstream' thinking due to an influential report funded by green billionaires and promoted by activists. But the authors of the original report, never even intended for these simulations to be used in this way - and neither can the extreme RCP 8.5 be compared to any other scenario, especially as the others are calculated on a world with 3 billion fewer people by 2100. Is that spawning depopulation chatter? Perhaps. Both climate crisis and depopulation themes are disturbing and inaccurate. A Conversation with Steve Goreham, author of “Outside the Green Box.”
Business people long for the voice of common sense on climate change and ‘green’ policies – Steve Goreham is the one. The “Four Horsemen of the Environmental Apocalypse” are discussed and deconstructed by Steve Goreham, author of “Outside the Green Box: Rethinking Sustainable Development.” Goreham notes there are real pollution issues that are not being addressed while businesses are trapped in ‘the Green Box’ of sustainability, chasing their tails and wasting time and money over counting their carbon footprint and suchlike. Speaking from her living room, Michelle Stirling, Communications Manager for Friends of Science Society comments informally on some aspects of the Premier's statements.

Are polar bears in danger of extinction? Has the image of isolated polar bears been coopted by the climate movement as shorthand imagery to represent climate disaster? What do we find when we look into claims of the Harvey et Al (2017) peer-reviewed paper that attacked polar bear researcher Dr. Susan Crockford? And what of Knut, the abandoned baby polar bear st the Berlin zoo that became a global icon? Answers to these questions and more in"Cult of the Climate Change Polar Bear: Knut is Dead; long live Knut". Note: this is long read of about 57 mins.

Dr. Patrick Moore discusses the urban – rural divide and how people in the city have become so far removed from the real world of mining, drilling, producing energy, and making things, and far removed from farming – whether it be produce, dairy, or beef cattle – that this large population is negatively affecting climate and energy policies from a position of ignorance about how things are made.

He goes on to discuss his unexpected journey into the world of climate change and energy policies.

Many climate change activists say it is a moral issue. Ezra Levant discusses this notion with Michelle Stirling, Communications Manager for Friends of Science Society. He points out that most prominent climate activists are unable to resist their jet-setting lifestyles or reduce their large carbon footprints while telling the 'little people' to do so. Michelle reads an enlightening piece by an IPCC philosopher who tells us that the IPCC stops climate change by traveling to meetings in remote corners of the globe....but they buy offsets.

So many scientists now question the scope of human-caused global warming, it's time for the public to calm down and deal with common sense issues - like treating waste water instead of dumping sewage and industrial waste into rivers or the ocean; putting emissions management on industrial plants - not spending trillions chasing carbon dioxide or putting up ineffective wind and solar farms. We must care for the planet - but let's put public money in the right place - not in the hands of green crony capitalists. Don't let your tax dollars be dragged under the Climate Catastrophe umbrella anymore. Demand cost-benefit accounting. When people want your agreement because they say it's a 'crisis' - check your wallet.
