Quesada Keg Cigar Review by LeeMack912. I smoke em and tell you what I think. It's always a good day in my neighborhood.
Following the successful Oktoberfest, Quesada announced that they will be releasing a cigar to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The cigar however won’t be made at the Quesada factory in the Dominican Republic, instead it will be a collaboration with the Plasencia Family at one of their factories in Nicaragua.
The cigar which comes in a keg with twenty-one toros measuring 6 x 50 is draped in a dark Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper over binder and fillers from Nicaragua. The cigar is described as rich in body with notes of coffee and dark chocolate, the Quesada Keg Edition is the perfect complement to the roasted malt flavor of a an Irish stout.
According to Terence Reilly of Quesada Cigars, “Being half Irish I have always wanted to work on a project for St. Patrick’s day. Success with our Oktoberfest brand pairing cigars with beer got me excited to do something for St. Patrick’s. Initially, we couldn’t find the right blend in the Dominican to match the tasting notes of the more popular Irish stouts as we had done with marzen beers for Oktoberfest so we turned to our friends the Plasencias in Nicaragua. There, we found the blend we were looking for. It’s been a fun project to celebrate a fun day.”
While the two families have worked on brands in the past, this is the first time a Placencia produced cigar will carry the Quesada name.

Romeo y Julieta Envy Amulet | #leemack912 Cigar Reviews (S09 E15). Romeo has gone green with envy—at least according to Altadis U.S.A. The newest release (and color) of the iconic brand, Romeo y Julieta Envy is a limited-edition cigar made by the Plasencia family in Nicaragua. It’s a follow-up to last year’s Romeo y Julieta Eternal and should ship to retailers in December.
Composed of only Nicaraguan tobacco, Envy comes in one size called Amulet ($17.50), measuring 6 inches by 55 ring gauge, and is packaged in glossy green 11-count boxes. The wrapper is a high-priming leaf grown in the Jalapa region that, according to Altadis, has more age than wrappers typically found on Romeo y Julieta cigars.
Romeo y Julieta Envy
The secondary band depicts the evil eye, a symbol or amulet used to ward off any envious impulses. “Love has its shadows,” says the loose printed sheet contained within each box. “It can inspire envy. Capturing what triggered that emotion, our signature mix of quality, skills and passion, we’ve transformed that feeling into a unique smoking experience built around opulent aromas and luscious notes.”
Only 100,000 cigars are being produced, which amounts to nearly 10,000 boxes.

In 2016, about three and a half years after Headley Grange debuted, Crowned Heads released a maduro version of the line as an exclusive to JR Cigar, dubbed the Black Dog, a name that shares its origins with the original line’s. Headley Grange was named for the studio in England where Led Zeppelin recorded “When the Levee Breaks,” which was the inspiration for the blend. In particular, Jon Huber wanted to create a cigar that tasted as distinctive as the opening drum beat of that song.
So when it came time for the maduro version, Huber turned to the band’s album, Led Zeppelin IV, which contained the original song as well as another track called Black Dog, an appropriate title given the darker color of that cigar’s Connecticut habano maduro wrapper.
Huber wasn’t done with the dog-themed names for Headley Grange line extensions, as in 2018 the Black Lab LE 2018 would debut, using the same blend as Black Dog but limited to just 1,500 boxes of 12 cigars, which came in a 6 x 52 toro vitola.
In 2019, the Crowned Heads teamed returned with another limited edition for its Headley Grange line, and once again, named for a breed of dog: the Chamuco.
The name comes from a breed of dog that is also referred to as a Mexican pit bull, which is a cross between an American pit bull and the extinct Mexican bulldog.
Given its name origins, it should come as no surprise that the cigar uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a replacement for the Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper found on the regular production version of the Headley Grange line. Underneath that leaf is the normal blend though, meaning a binder and filler that both come from Nicaragua.
