Thousands gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 10, in an event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 1995 Million Man March.
Like its historic predecessor, Saturday’s event, billed as “Justice or Else,” sought to address grievances by African-Americans and other minority groups perceived as marginalized in American society. The event was organized largely by religious group Nation of Islam (NOI), which also helped organize the original event which attracted an estimated 837,000 to the National Mall on October 16, 1995.
“We want equal justice under the law,” reads a vision statement on the event’s website. “We want justice applied equally regardless to creed or class or color.”
Among those who addressed Justice or Else attendees were District Mayor Muriel Bowser and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who praised the Black Lives Matter movement and urged youth present to carry on the spirit of the 20th anniversary event.
"What good are we if we don't prepare young people to carry the torch of liberation to the next step,” said Farrakhan.
Also present at the rally was political scientist and author Dr. Umar Johnson, who told News2Share that rights and conditions for blacks in America have overall deteriorated in the 20 years since the original march.

A coalition of progressive activists managed to partially gridlock rush hour traffic in Washington DC around the Capitol Tuesday morning by "blockading" several intersections to draw attention to causes like voting rights, environmental issues, and military spending while promoting the Biden "Build Back Better" plan.
Two were arrested as police attempted to clear the blockades and detour drivers around the protests.
Participating groups included ShutDownDC, SPACES In Action, CODEPINK, Arm in Arm Washington DC, Chesapeake Climate Action Network Action Fund, Extinction Rebellion DC, and others.
"As Congress prepares to leave town for the holidays, the opportunity to take critical legislative action on progressive priorities -- priorities that Democrats and the Biden-Harris administration campaigned on -- is rapidly disappearing," ShutDownDC said in a press release.
"Recognizing the urgent moment, activists are gathering to demonstrate the immediate need to pass the Build Back Better Act, the Freedom To Vote Act, and so much more. "

Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush spoke out and held a vigil for the more than 100 journalists killed in Gaza since October 7.
"Despite Netanyahu's ongoing genocidal campaign, Palestinian journalists have continued reporting for Gaza under extremely dangerous circumstances to continue showing the world the truth about these atrocities," Representative Tlaib said.
"We call on the international community: Please come together to investigate the Israeli government's war crimes for repeated attacks on journalists."
Congresswoman Cori Bush said that "Needless, senseless, and murderous violence against Palestinians is the deadliest conflict in history for journalists."
"Palestinian voices are being intentionally silenced by the Israeli government and by our own government," she describes. "This makes uncovering the truth of what's happening in Palestine not only difficult and dangerous, but essential."
She calls out American journalists for expressing solidarity with press that's killed or detained internationally but excluding Palestinian media.

News2Share contributor Heather Mullins spoke to Kyle Chapman, aka "Based Stickman" ahead of today's Boston Rally for the Republic.
"There's a systematic oppression of people of right-wing thought and ideology, by the city council, the police are involved in it, and the populace is involved in it," Chapman said, referring to cities like Boston and San Francisco as "Marxist enclaves." "We have to keep pushing back, wear our MAGA hats, let these people know we're conservatives, we're libertarians, we're nationalists, we're proud and we're not going to sit and hide in the shadows just because we're in a liberal city."

Black Lives Matter activists protested for Ma'Khia Bryant Friday afternoon outside the mansion of Minnesota Governor Walz in St. Paul. Bryant was shot dead by Columbus Police earlier this week, who called the death a "tragedy" but say they were protecting another teenage girl who she had confronted with a knife.
Multiple activists compared officers' approach to Bryant to that of Kyle Rittenhouse, who left Kenosha after killing two and injuring a third without being immediately arrested. Rittenhouse has claimed self-defense and turned himself in the following morning.

Center for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) Director Nihad Awad spoke out Thursday morning at a rally protesting Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's visit to Washington DC.
"If the president of the United States, President Joe Biden, decides to host in the White House the leader of Taliban, what would be the reaction of the U.S. media? What would be the reaction of the public?" he asked. "Today, it's no different. President Joe Biden is hosting the leader of Israeli Taliban."
A planned meeting between Biden and Naftali was postponed following the reported bombing of Kabul Airport.
