Yes, it's time to head back over to the Salon and see how the place is shaping up. I got a bit of a surprise when I arrived seeing some of Chanya's friends there. I've been wanting to get some of our ladyboy girlfriends together for a chat and a video. The real problem here is that they are a bit shy and don't want any unsolicited attention. Anyway, I see Chanya has been investing in her business with some new equipment. I'm not sure about the idea for the chandelier but I'm sure she has thought it through. Oh yes, she won the TV last month at a fashion show which was a nice bonus.
I chose early retirement over working the 40 40 40 plan and now I'm living stress-free as an Aussie expat living in Thailand with my Thai girlfriend. Our Video Blog covers the typical things we find ourselves doing as we build our life together living in the suburbs of Bangkok. My fiancée is a post-op ladyboy and we have been together since 2009. I finally moved to Thailand in September 2016 because the 8 years of travelling to see her were taking its toll. Continuing with our getting lost series for discovering Bangkok, our mate Jack said we should go check out the Phra Khanong Market, which is just down from W District. The Phra Khanong Market is tucked away behind Soi 71 off Sukhumvit Road and seemed relatively quiet, given the close proximity to Sukhumvit Road. We found a quiet eatery for lunch and then walked back up to Phra Khanong BTS to check out the W District. Although W District is an evening hive of activity, we could sense the vibe during our afternoon visit. There's been a fair bit of news about the W District, most of it speculation, but some say the land is precious, whereas the buildings are falling down due to ground subsidence. The land owner wants to develop it, but the costs to do so are out of their reach.

Another week has gone by and the borders are showing holes which have created a bit of a panic in northern Thailand. The country can't afford another lockdown, but if they don't repair the fences, that is certainly where we are heading.

We've had our Patreon page set up for about 18 months and Kusuma was one of our first supporters so it was a great opportunity to meet her and her sister for the first time. If you don't know what Patreon is, it is one of the crowdfunding sites that is approved by YouTube where you can pledge support for their channel or a project the creator might be involved with. In our situation, we don't make a big point of the generosity of our viewers and it is in no way required for our continued general content creation but over the next 12 months, we will be doing more for our supporters with some more specialised content just for them.
Anyway, the 3 girls had a great time hanging out at the mall and Kusuma was grinning ear to ear so I could tell she was enjoying her little shopping mall adventure. Of course, I do send my condolences regarding her recent bereavement, and it was a pity her husband didn't make it to Thailand this trip but we do hope to catch up with them when they come out for their next visit.

Today we take a short drive west out to Nakhon Pathom to look at a new housing estate. The salon has been running for almost a year now so we are approaching the time where Chanya can qualify for a home loan. This means we can now start some dream building and go check out what sort of places are on offer.
We looked at a few places last year but it was too early to make any commitments back then. Now that she has some bank reporting, Chanya feels they may take a more serious look at our needs. This Social Plus+ estate is quite nice and I could certainly see a lot of appeal for this style of house. I still want to look at more options and get a firm commitment from the bank before getting my hopes too high. So stay tuned and we'll organise some more walkthroughs for different options we come across over the next few months.

Ok, it's back to the Dentist for visit number 3. During the fitting process, the doctor was very methodical and he wasn't happy with the occlusion on the fit, so he put the temporary back on and has sent it back to the Dental Lab to be corrected. He still proceeded to move onto the other side and he installed the temporary crown on that side as well. We are hoping to have the finished crowns back next Tuesday but it is the Mother's Day holiday weekend coming up so we have set aside two times for the visit.
Anyway, I drop into the supermarket, pay a couple of bills, drop in for a massage and then grab some dinner.

It's Chanya's day off and she's now been running the shop for a week, so it's time to lift her spirits and take her shopping. After all, every girl loves to go shopping, and the new Icon Siam is the latest extravaganza in the Bangkok shopping world!
It was a bit of a challenge to get in here today. One reason is the place has only just opened, but the other reason is the construction work going on out the front on the main road. I guess some parts of the project simply weren't finished on time.
The ground level is mainly set up in the style of a typical floating market, but this one is air conditioned which really makes it unique. You don't get any real idea of the total size of the complex at this level. The ceiling is closed in which occludes the view of the upper levels.
We take the elevator up to the highest level available and then start to make our way down. Chanya is pretty hungry at this point so we stop off for lunch and I check out the view.
Anyway, after lunch, we continue to check out the complex and you soon start to realize the total size of this place. It is huge! I really think you'll need to allow yourself a full day to really check everything out.
The place is making headlines everywhere and it seems that if you're lucky, you'll probably bump into all sort of riff-raff if you're not careful. We bumped into Mayu and her worst half Ethan on our little adventure - lol. If you don't know Ethan's channel, here's the link to his channel.

Our local temple here in Nong Khang Phlu is Wat Wonglaparam and this week it is their turn to hold the annual fundraising festival. The whole thing has been running for a week now and the final day of the festival has a special turnout. The locals in the village prepare an assortment of food and drinks for the visitors and it is all free. Of course, you are expected to make a donation to the Temple while you're here, but that's just par for the course.
We visit the Temple to make merit during the day and partake in some of the food offerings. It is certainly a festive occasion and we come back during the evening to grab a bite to eat for dinner. The evening's entertainment includes a free concert with live music and we had one vendor with a wall-of-death motorcycle stunt rider. I always feel these guys are reckless, but I guess it is no worse than local city riding.
