Flip turn tutorial 1. How to do a freestyle flip turn for beginners. Progression technique.
Here is a tutorial on how to do a freestyle flip turn for beginners, explained as detailed as you need it. This tutorial goes over 4 basic points on how to learn to do a flip turn while swimming freestyle without the bad practices learned in a common swim lesson or by yourself.
These tips and techniques will work best to help you improve dramatically your swimming if you do two things: 1- Focus on one thing at a time 2- Practice until you dominate that thing and move to the next. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDM-WuklAqc
There are basically two ways to swim fast freestyle. By fast freestyle we refer to a distance of 25 or 50 meters or yards. There is the straight arm and the classic arm. The straight arm fast freestyle has become popular among sprinters.
In both techniques there is little need to rotate the shoulders as the arms move so fast that rotating a lot would be a waste of time.
To do a fast freestyle it is essential that you kick as fast as you can. There should be water splashing behind you as if you had a motor.
In a 50 freestyle there is very little margin of error, that is why you need an explosive start and flip turn. Finally, very often you can win or lose by a tenth of a second so a good final touch can make you win the race. The final stroke is a little longer than the rest. You stretch your body as fast and far as you can, rotating more to your side. You should touch with your fingers not with the palm of your hands. Just strong enough to activate the touch pad but not strong enough that you injure your fingers. This takes practice to master, so start slow and build up speed to touch the wall properly.

These tips and techniques will work best to help you improve dramatically your stroke if you do two things:

I will also do another series of videos for the other strokes, including starts and turns. There will also be drills and other fun stuff, so make sure to subscribe!
I swam for 15 years in the competitive arena and I hope I can transmit my knowledge as clearly and simple as youtube allows me to. I plan on doing a couple of these to spread the knowledge I have acquired on swimming. I will do collaborations with people with even more knowledge and experience to do more advanced type videos.
Finally, what I am really passionate about is learning new skills. So the point of this channel is to spread the intrinsic joy that all humans share when we learn something new, doesn't matter how insignificant it might appear. I believe improvement makes us feel more alive and thus, if done right, make a better world.
So if you enjoy learning n

We went over how to pull and kick in breaststroke. However, you could learn how to do both perfectly and you would still be missing a big part of what makes the good breaststrokers fast!
The glide
Depending on the distance they are swimming, olympic breaststrokers can spend around half a second per stroke gliding! In a two hundred meter race, they spend around thirty seconds gliding! Needless to say it is essential to learn this skill. There are three aspects to the perfect glide.
Position.
To get in the right position to glide you need to pay attention to the head and the hips. The head goes down when the arms go forward. It even goes a little bit passed the parallel line of the body to compensate and help move the hips up. The hips go up a little with the help of the kick and the core muscles.
Core.
It is essential to have enough core strength in breaststroke to be able to move your body from the pulling / kicking position to a perfect gliding position and back again. These muscles will give you the force and the stabilization necessary for a good stroke technique.
Tempo.
The final question to talk about remains: how long should the glide be kept before starting to pull again? Well, I am afraid there is no straightforward answer to this, because there are many things to consider like:
1- The distance being swam.
2- The strength of the swimmer.
3- The height of the swimmer
Many swimmers even change their tempo considerably within the same event. A faster tempo can feel like you are going faster, but sometimes that is not the case. If you are pulling and kicking correctly with a lot of strength, then it is convenient to glide a little longer. If you are getting tired and your pull and kick weakens maybe it is a good idea to shorten the glide and increase your tempo.
We will talk about different racing strategies and good practices on future videos.
Leave a comment to let us know what skill you would like to learn and what event you would like to swim faster! Let’s make this channel the go to community for swimming improvement!

If you are like me, you probably sing when you swim. In fact singing has probably become a part of your swimming. So in my drawing (The front of the t-shirt) I wanted to explore the relationship between the water and music. Or maybe you are a synchro swimmer and you already know that relationship! Either way I hope you like it and if you do buy it thank you for supporting us.

On this series of videos we will simulate swimming movements and engage the same muscles we use while we swim each stroke. We won't have an intro or a long outro. That is because we want you to be able to play the video whenever you are ready and start the workout. The disadvantage of this method is that you don't have a strong warm up routine structured. So if you feel like you need to warm up beforehand you can use this video: https://youtu.be/tsneJbHM8IM
1- Standing dolphin kicks
2- Butterfly good mornings
3- Butterfly push ups
4- Rocking hollow rock
5- Circle push ups
6- Foot release Bridges
7- Pike push ups
8- Hannibal push ups
9- Reverse push ups
10-Praying stretch

Learning any new skill can be challenging, but learning to swim can be specially frustrating. On this video we will break down why this happens and what you can do about it.
If you are new here, welcome to our channel where every Friday we break down some aspect of swimming into its fundamental parts in a way that are easy to understand and to apply. If that sounds like something you are interested in, consider subscribing.
The first reason why learning to swim well is frustrating is because it is very complicated. Unlike running which we evolved to do, swimming is something the human body is not specially designed to do. You might have heard or seen that babies are born knowing how to swim but as Jeffrey Wagener, a pediatric pulmonologist in Colorado says:
“No. It's not true that babies are born with the ability to swim, though they have reflexes that make it look like they are. A reflex called the bradycardic response makes babies hold their breath and open their eyes when submerged in water”

So, we are not born knowing how to swim and if we want to swim our bodies need to be doing a lot of things at the same time that are entirely new if we don’t have any practice. Some of the things you need to be doing to swim front crawl for example is: Holding your breath for short periods of time, blowing bubbles through your nose, moving half of your head out of the water twisting your mouth and in a very limited space inhale enough air to replenish your lungs and hold it then blow more bubbles until the next breath. That is just to take a breath, I didn’t even talk about how your legs must move, how your knees need to be a little bent while going down but stretched while going up, the position of your ankles, your engaged core muscles, the movement of your arms, the rotation of your body back and forth and the synchronization of your kicks with your strokes.
Our brain is not capable of learning that many new things in a short period of time. The reason, though some children seem to learn it more quickly than an adult has to do with neuroplasticity. Until recently it was believed that our brain pretty much stayed the same after childhood, but thankfully it is not true. The ability for our brain to change and adapt to outside stimuli is present throughout our whole lives. While we do have more of this ability in childhood, you can still learn how to swim if you know what to focus on and your are patient enough to practice.
But another problem adults have is that we have misconceptions or we have been misinformed and we don’t know what to focus on first. Before we enter the pool we must likely already have misconcept
