Colorado 2017: Stanley Hotel, Emerald Lakes Trail, and the end of the trip
This is the final installment of the footage I took on my recent Colorado trip. Man this was a great trip and I got to see so much. In this video, we took a short 3.2 mile hike to Emerald Lake, we visit the hotel that inspired the movie "The Shining" as well as had scenes filmed in it in "Dumb and Dumber." We meet up with a couple of our Facebook friends we had never met in person before, and then we bid Colorado farewell for another year. I want to thank everyone who has watched these videos. I tried to do a different type of editing which is more realistic and less music. I hope the pictures inspire you to "get out there and explore!"

Man, sometimes a solo trip is just what the doctor ordered. On this one, I visit another abandoned pond in the Charles C. Deam Wilderness and test out some new gear. It was just overnight, but I had a fantastic time.

My buddy John and Brian joined me for this final pond exploration until fall. The heat is going to be getting worse in the woods as well as the bugs so I am going to switch over to truck camping for the summer. I am also getting ready for a 42-mile hike soon. I hope you enjoy this one. I got to review a new firepit and grill from LIFEDOO. They reached out to me to ask me if I wanted to try it out and I agreed.

A few years ago, I backed a project on Kickstarted called the One80 Light. It was an innovative product which was the brainchild of two outdoor enthusiasts, so I was immediately drawn to it. They were rethinking how we think about headlamps and I wanted in. Fast forward to a few years later and one of the owners/creators of the company contacted me to see if I wanted to try out their latest waterproof version which also has a red light bar that can be attached. I jumped at the chance. In this video, I give my initial thoughts on their newest iteration of this awesome headlamp.
Some of the stats on this product are:
H2 Headlamp
IPX7 Waterproof
Rechargeable
360 Lumens (on high)
Weighs 4 0z
180-degree visibility.
You can find the product here: https://one80light.com/

In this video, I am showing a piece of equipment that I use for my alcohol stove. It is the Vargo Aluminum Windscreen. I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, I can see the value in having a light easily foldable windscreen, however, I worry that it is almost too light and will fall over.
The time I have tried it, I have been very successful with it so I wanted to pass it along to my subscribers and get their opinions. The cost of these are $14.95. I realize it is cheaper to make your own so I will let you be the judge on that.
You can find it here in my amazon store if you are interested: http://astore.amazon.com/thahikguy-20

This is a short video I did this evening to further test out the capabilities of the 360fly camera. This was a sunset time lapse I captured at a local park. I was a bit underwhelmed by it, but I will let you the audience decide what you think. Thanks for watching

This past sunday I decided to do a day hike at a lake near my hometown of Bloomington Indiana. I had never been to this lake. It is called Griffy lake and is on the northern most side of Bloomington. I have to say this lake is very pretty and I had a nice relaxing day hike. I even ended up doing a little bushwacking as there is not an actual trail that runs continuously around the lake. I would recommend staying on the marked trails however because it did get a bit hairy at times trying to navigate certain areas.

This past weekend I took a hike on the Young's Creek Trail in the Hoosier National Forest. I read that this trail was difficult in spots but wanted to find out for myself. They weren't lying. The elevation gains and losses were a plenty. I went on a day after we had two solid days of rain and that made conditions considerably worse. This trail was beautiful though and I am glad I did it.
It is listed as 11.7 miles however, I read other places that it was closer to 12.7. There are plenty creeks (including Young's Creek, hence the name) for water and there are vault toilets located at the horse camp. I would recommend this trail for the more experienced hiker but it could be a nice challenge for just about anyone.
To view information for this trail take a look at the forestry website.: http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/hoosier/recreation/hiking/recarea/?recid=41538&actid=51
In this video I also reminisce about the Merrell Moab Ventilators Boots that I purchase approximately one year ago and how they have stood up to some serious terrain and testing.
Please Note: I was not aware that asking people to click on ads is a bad thing to do, therefore please disregard that statement in the video, well unless you were going to do so anyway.
