Cloudlifter vs. Fethead vs. SS1 vs. Durham vs. McBoost Comparison (Versus Series)
Today I compare 5 Mic Activators / Preamps for Dynamic & Ribbon Microphones to improve the output level: Cathedral Pipes Durham, Simply Sound SS-1, Triton Audio Fethead, Cloudlifter CL-1, and Radial McBoost. I test the output level, impact on tone, and impact on noise floor. NOTE: If you only have budget of $75 & Cathedral Pipes Durham is not available then I would recommend the SS-1.

Today I compare the Audio Technica AT2020, AT2035, and AT2050 to answer the question of “which one is best” or “which one should you buy”. Hopefully this answers all the questions you have about which is best for spoken word, music, and gaming.

Today we’re looking at the AKG P420, a multipattern XLR condenser microphone. This mic has a subtle presence and treble boost and minor boost below 100Hz. I think this mic may only really work well for music if you like the tone of it.

Today we’re looking at a new budget USB microphone from Amazon. That’s right. AMAZON! They’re making mics now. This thing has a bit depth of 16-bit, sample rate of up to 48kHz, and decent enough noise floor, and a surprisingly good sound. If you’re in the market for a good budget microphone option, this may be the one for you.

Today I review a budget USB Mixer, the Behringer Xenyx Q1202USB. This thing has 12 inputs, and lots of features. However, there are some pretty serious issues that almost ruin it for me. The main issue is you can't hear your computers output while having zero latency monitoring. What do you think?

I wanted to do a quick comparison between a Large Diaphragm Condenser and a Small Diaphragm Condenser to show the difference in sound because I think it's quite drastic and illustrates why SDC's are so popular on acoustic instruments. What do you think?
I hear the LDC being fuller and more powerful sounding, while the SDC sounds more natural, articulate, and realistic. On acoustic guitar I'd be reaching for the SDC most of the times.

Today I review the Shure SM48-LC, a budget version of the SM58 that comes in under $40. The "LC" in the name means "Less Cable", so it doesn't come with an XLR cable. This is an XLR microphone with a roll off of bass frequencies below 200Hz, and a large presence and treble boost, and a roll off of the majority of air frequencies. For the price, it’s a great entry level or budget vocal microphone.
