You don’t need Fantasy Grounds or Roll20 to play D&D online
Chapter 2 of The Complete Guide to Playing Tabletop Role-Playing Games, Online. Today I discuss the perogative of a group to use Virtual Tabletops--as much of them, or as little of them as suits you best. I do talk about Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds, but I don't assume they are the center of the universe. There are many ways to play: find yours; I'm just here to help navigate.
There are other videos that will tell you WHAT they *think* the next edition of D&D will be like. There are other videos that will tell you where they *wish* future RPGs would go. But what's actually pushing D&D 6E, or any other RPG's new edition?
Making a new RPG is a big deal. Sometimes the market or the corporate overlords of the designers puts these these forces front and center. Other times, these forces act on a purely subconscious level. And keep in mind it's still AWESOME to see the kinds of games that swim upstream and cut their own new Road in the Tabletop RPG future.

Well, I Screwed up the live broadcast...Which got me to making the first semi-polished campaign update for Five Sisters!
This Recap is about 2/3rds of the normal quality level you might find here on the channel, I have used it as an experiment in shaving time from my normal workflow to push out a product a little bit faster. Next Week We'll be getting back into the flow of things!

This is a Hot Take on the Beta. IT is predicated on a specific culture of preferences in gameplay at Paizo and a certain out-of-touchness that seems to pervade the Paizo VIPs. They don't know why people play other RPGs; or why folks have chosen not to play theirs. But that's for the video....
I use a lot of icons from FlatIcons. They are Creative Commons-Attribution, and keeping a list of which ones for specific callout in the description is oustide of the amount of time I have on the channel. IF you would like an attribution to your particular icon, please PM me. In the meantime, I must thank all the Graphic Artists on FlatIcons that make my style of video possible.

No really...each system has a different sort of character creation process. Some of them ask you to pick a class and a level, some are wide open for anything the player can think of; others are more specific. Some ask you to wend the path of the character's life to the day that they're ready to set out for (adventure). (Adventure)?....Well, that's whatever each particular RPG suggests to the GM and Players will be the substance of play.
How did you get here?

#RPGaDAY 22: "Supposedly Random"
While there are some mechanics (like the exploding dice of Savage Worlds) that beg the question of if randomness (or rather, its effects) was fully considered, perhaps we undersell in our minds the amount of intent and care that goes into the systems that we use to play TTRPGs.

Samwise Seven RPG, the Elder Brigadier, Some call him Tim, has called for the community of RPG enthusiasts to embrace the DIY spirit, the meatspace spirit, and get off their asses and MAKE SOMETHIN, DAMMIT!
The Complex Games Apologist responds with this (extant prior) Hexmap of a river-valley kingdom, the wild coastline beyond, and a deep and foreboding outback. Oh, and some bigass volcanoes.

My first two videos about Hârn prompted a nest of questions that begged for a more personal set of answers. Here is a more or less full-on cassette tape style video, edited primarily for coherence.
Answered questions:
1) Comment on the state of the editions of the game ~
Some disambiguation on HârnWorld vs. HârnMaster, some discussion of HârnMaster Gold vs. Columbia Games HârnMaster; Some disambiguation of Kelestia Productions vs. Columbia Games.

2) Best place to start playing/Best adventure/best initial purchase.)
Answer: I would start here: http://www.rpgnow.com/product/58431/Kingdom-of-Kaldor?manufacturers_id=2182
http://www.kelestia.com/harn-map
http://www.rpgnow.com/product/134620/Harndex-A-HarnWorld-Reference-and-Glossary?manufacturers_id=2182 (wait for this to go on sale...it was deeply discounted this summer (xmas in July sale) , and I for one think it needs to have a nominal price at all times to encourage people to try the setting out).
3) (I read this as a subtext in some of the confusion of setting vs. World) Do I recommend HârnMaster as a rules system? (I offer a lot of talk on this subject)

For those of you who are already subscribed, it may be hard to understand why I made the Starfinder vid. I hope this explains and puts into context why I care.
It also contains my reflections/lamentations on the state of the 3.X meta-community-zeitgeist and how I hope Starfinder might once place the non-3.xites back into conversations with the 3.xites. We are, after all, all players of TTRPGs.

There's something the CGA don't understand?
Just...people. Just certain things those folks tend to say.
But I do have my own way!
