We're engrossed in living with such luxuries. Have we thought about what we'd do without those things? If for one moment, we detached and connected with the Giver? In this Salok (stanza), Guru Ji helps us to reconsider our priorities, taking us away from these poisons Salok 2 of Salok Mehalla 9: ਬਿਖਿਅਨ ਸਿਉ ਕਾਹੇ ਰਚਿਓ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਹੋਹਿ ਉਦਾਸੁ ॥ bikhian sio kaahe rachio nimakh na hohi udaas | Why are you engrossed in poison? You are not detached, even for a moment! ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਾ ਪਰੈ ਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸ ॥੨॥ kahu naanak bhaj har manaa parai na jam kee faas |2| Says Nanak, meditate upon Vaheguru, and you shall not be caught in the noose of death. This video is part of the Salok Mehalla 9 Series: Salok Mehalla 9 is a collection of stanzas written by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji (Ninth Sikh Guru) and is well known to be hard hitting, a wake up call and sheds some reality on life. Many Gursikhs (Sikhs of the Guru) recite this Bani (prayer) as part of their Nitnem (Daily Sikh Prayers). Each episode in the series is 25-30 minutes, and Baljit Singh explains each Salok (stanza) in detail, using real life examples to give the Salok context.
