* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Deltona, Florida — On July 6, 2023, just after 8:00 p.m. at Catalina and Howland boulevards in Deltona, a deputy pulled over a black Mercedes for a temporary tag that was obscured by a cover plate. The driver, later identified as 23-year-old Michael Becht, stopped at the intersection, rolled down his window as the deputy approached, and agreed to pull into a nearby shopping plaza to avoid obstructing traffic. Instead, as the deputy headed back to his patrol vehicle, Becht took off on Catalina and fled to I-4, where Air One spotted the vehicle from overhead. The Air One crew followed as Becht headed into Daytona Beach, swerving through traffic and avoiding stop sticks from units along the way. He finally came to a stop in traffic at the intersection of Nova and Beville roads. Sheriff Mike Chitwood, out of uniform in a Daytona Tortugas T-shirt after leaving Jackie Robinson Ballpark earlier in the evening, approached and pulled Becht out of the car as additional deputies joined in escorting him to the ground. Becht confessed to and apologized for his actions and was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement and driving with a suspended license. A witness followed the suspect who was later identified as 31-year-old Elizandro Vargas. The suspect was holding a brick when he encountered police officers. Officers ordered Vargas to drop the brick, instead Vargas threw the brick at the officer, who ducks and side steps. That is when two shots can be heard, as Vargas stumbles backward.Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the suspect. * (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Naugatuck, Connecticut — On October 14, 2023, Naugatuck Police Officers got a call for shoplifting at Stop and Shop in Naugatuck when 33-year-old Jarrell Day of Waterbury attempted to steal over $200 worth of beer. During the course of that theft, it was updated to a robbery charge due to the fact that there was an altercation between store staff and the suspect in question. In police body camera video, Detective Williams can be seen approaching the suspect's car and ordering both occupants out of the vehicle. The car takes off, hitting a police cruiser while driving away. A second video, taken from Officer Kehoss' body camera, shows Kehoss driving after the fleeing vehicle and finding it crashed into a pole a short distance away. Officer Kehoss chased Day and ordered him to stop before pulling out a stun gun and telling him to get on the ground. The officer then deploys the stun gun, causing Day to fall to the ground. The officer ordered Day to roll onto his stomach. When Day didn't comply, Kehoss electrified the stun gun again. He did so one more time after asking the suspect to put his hands behind his back. After the incident, Officer Kehoss’ supervisors reviewed the video and brought it to the attention of the Office of the State’s Attorney. That office then directed the Connecticut State Police to investigate to determine if criminal charges needed to be brought against the officer. On October 30, 2023, Officer Nicholas Kehoss turned himself in to Troop A in Southbury on an active arrest warrant Monday, charging him with intentional cruelty to persons and third-degree assault. Officer Kehoss was released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at (GA4) Waterbury Superior Court on November 11, 2023. Day was charged with attempted second-degree assault, third-degree robbery, assault on police, illegal possession of a weapon in a vehicle, second-degree larceny, reckless driving, operating under suspension and evading responsibility. ** (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) ** Sacramento, California — On Saturday, April 11, 2020, at approximately 4:38 p.m., an officer involved shooting occurred in the 7400 block of West Stockton Boulevard. During the incident an armed suspect fired upon officers after they attempted an enforcement stop. At approximately 3:38 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department was notified by the Marysville Police Department to be on the lookout for a suspect wanted for attempted homicide with a firearm. At approximately 4:38 p.m., Sacramento Police Department officers located the male adult suspect in a vehicle. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle in the 7400 block of West Stockton Boulevard when the suspect opened the driver’s side door and exchanged gunfire with officers. The suspect was injured as a result. Officers safely detained the suspect and began to render medical aid. Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the suspect to a local hospital. The suspect is currently listed in stable condition and receiving medical treatment. No officers were injured during the shooting. The suspect’s firearm was recovered on scene. All videos being released from this incident have been redacted by Sacramento Police Department to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of those involved. The faces have been blurred and audio redactions are signified by muted audio. The suspect's identity is being withheld until medical treatment is complete and he can be booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
