Les Malezer delivers the 2009 Mabo Lecture. Part of the 10th Annual Native Title Conference (held in Melbourne Australia, 3-5 June 2009). This is an excerpt from the lecture, covering Les Malezer's final suggestions for the steps needed to break away from the wasteful and divisive Native Title process.

Les Malezer is a long-time delegate, lobbyist and & advocate for Indigenous Peoples' Rights at the United Nations. He was the 2007 Chair for the Global Indigenous Caucus at the UN and has been the Chair of the Pacific Region Caucus for Indigenous Peoples since 2006.

He has worked for many years on drafting the United Nations Declaration for the Rights of Indigenous peoples (adopted in 2007).

In 2008 he was awarded the Human Rights Medal.

Les Malezer is indigenous to Australia: descended from the Gubbi Gubbi / Burchulla peoples of the Mary River / Fraser Island on the eastern coast of Australian.
