Next up on our list of doom and gloom is Boomer Kuwanger and Spark Mandrill! Boomer Kuwanger is the Cut Man of this game, but his stage is DEFINITELY not the first stage you should go to, especially in this modification. You'll have to do some tricky wall jumps and some evasive maneuvers and the enemies you'll run into require some extra firepower. You also want to have the arm parts to charge up Shotgun Ice to slide out for a Heart Tank. Boomer Kuwanger is an interesting boss where it's very possible to fight him with the usual strategy, but there is a point where you can stick to the ground and take him out with well-placed shots.
Spark Mandrill is DEFINITELY a stage you want to save for mid-to-late game. His level is pretty rough, even more so when you have the power still going despite wrecking the place with Storm Eagle's airship. Here, you'll deal with the lights going on and a beefed up Thunder Slimer. Despite that, you should be okay if you've taken out this many Mavericks by now. However, Spark Mandrill is one of the harder contenders you'll face, having the power to erase your life bar in seconds if you're not careful. Don't forget that Shotgun Ice!

Here's the list of the changes below:
- AI changes: Regular enemies, bosses and minibosses have had their AI enhanced, making them more responsive and faster, among other things.
- Enemy stat rebalances: Enemies have had their HP rebalanced and they usually deal more damage.
- Player stat rebalances: Ammo has been reduced, and each of the weapon's costs have been rebalanced. Damage done by weapons have been rebalanced as well (The Hadouken isn't a 1-shot anymore), both against regular enemies and bosses. Some weapons had their speed rebalanced. The body upgrade has been nerfed to 25% damage reduction.
- Infinite lives.
- Dialogue changes.
- Death counter in the pause screen.
- Each of the bosses can now be rebattled.
- Each of the Maverick stages can be exited without having beaten it first.
- Hadouken capsule only requires 1 visit. Doesn't require all stages beaten.
- Custom Title.
- Other rebalances and small additions.

After playing back Bebop and Rocksteady for wrecking our ride, it seems that the zoo would be a great place to continue this wild and crazy ride. However, we learn that not everyone is on the same side of Shredder, rogue entities are looking to snatch Krang's head for themselves and they don't care who they subdue in the process!
We get a nice host of new characters (namely villains and cameos) thrown into the mix with these next three stages! It's refreshing considering how many times we've dealt with Bebop and Rocksteady so far! But of course, Shredder's plans are starting to coming together, almost literally!

Well, after narrowly escaping death twice by the hands of our mystery Deathchanter, our heroes soon start to grasp the gravity of their crimes. Mainly, the fact that Simmah was the source of Ray in the area. NOW that Simmah has bonded with L'Arc and that L'Arc would not be happy being a power plant for the rest of his life, we are more or less in some DEEP trouble.
Manly Clyde scolds our crew and we then will have to meet up with Weiss, the acting Emporer at the moment. Things are certainly looking a bit dicey and there's not a lot that can be done about it. So our heroes prep and head to Diamant.

Finally, a dungeon with a gimmick. This is where I'd say the game makes a huge leap in gameplay with the battle system. It introduces chaining attacks and magic together to make a much more powerful attack. This is TRULY welcome to a game that sorely needs some kind of entertainment. This is officially the point where the game starts redeeming itself in that area.
As for the dungeon, this one has fruits and plants. Feed the fruit to the corresponding plant to make it past, but it requires you to kill a few enemies that would be generous enough to give you said fruits. Did I also mention it is a MAZE!? Ughhh.

As we continue the match between these two rivals, I learn that while the AI is pretty solid for the most part, it is prone to making a number of mistakes here and there. Bowser is definitely not immune to this. This video will showcase just how bad things can get for Bowser at times and I can say that this is one of the worst stretches I've seen for this spike-shelled koopa!
That being said, don't let this guy give you a false sense of security and force out some human hubris. Bowser is still a threat throughout and if you're playing well and trouncing this guy, you can STILL lose this much. There have been countless times where I did a bit of sandbagging, and he ends up sneaking out a win right at the end due to a few bad holes on my own part. Be merciless and take down Bowser for yourself!
Or... you can keep tying to the very end for a wonderful, but rare treat!

Apologies for the messed up video display at the beginning, had gone from streaming one game to another and well... the transitioning didn't go as smoothly as I would have liked.
Now, for the harder difficulties that I was talking about. Very Hard is the beginning of the pain train that Pokemon Puzzle League has to offer to the player. The AI starts becoming a lot more competent and while it might not be brutal at the beginning, it definitely kicks it up big time half-way through. Losing is something that will likely happen from time to time if you've done well with Hard mode. Moreover, I think the difficulty of these opponents will far exceed anything that has been met in Tetris Attack or Panel de Pon for the SNES. Speed and grid sense are the key to success!
If you find yourself having trouble, try this for practice. Play some Marathon Mode and set yourself a goal. Like try to get a certain score under a set amount of time. Experiment with vertical and horizontal chains! To really grasp the game down, there needs to be an understanding of how to set up horizontal skill chains. Otherwise, you'll find it difficult to hit anything higher than 5 or 6 chains with a raised stack.
