In this video I talk about the biggest secret to be a lockdown defender in basketball. Defense is being taught wrong, and I was one of the ones that fell victim to this and you may have too. Have you ever been told "never cross your feet when you are playing defense"? Most of us have, and I want you to FORGET about that! I talk about in the video how some of the best perimeter defenders use this crossover step in order to stay in front of drivers creating undeniable LOCKDOWN DEFENSE. I demonstrate how to perform this move effectively without causing more harm to yourself defensively. I also breakdown a few of my favorite drills for this movement in basketball to become a lockdown defender on the court!

This workout is not to replace normal vertical training routines, but one to add to it to change things up. Their are a lot of different scenarios we can talk about for athletic training, as far as how often should athletes train. (Jump training, speed training, etc.) But for today we are going to be specifically talking about strength training for athletes.
I talk in depth about how many days a week athletes need to strength train in the offseason as well as in season. Because looking at these different perspectives things are going to change quite a bit in our training.

I wanted to show you guys that you don't always need a big gym, and fancy equipment to get a good vertical jump workout in. For this video I go through a challenging vertical jump workout that you can do at home, or anywhere as long as you have a little bit of space. Increasing your vertical jump for basketball is very important, and is actually available to anybody.
Do I think a lot of different equipment is good? Absolutely! I think it is extremely important that we have certain resources to maximize our bodies potential. But their are no excuses, and you can definitely train yourself to jump higher without weights. So don't let the little access, and no resources stop you! Vertical jump training is a must, and will help your game in so many ways!

For this video I will be showing some of my favorite stability exercises for jumper's knee. If you are rehabbing a knee injury the first stage should be stability exercises. Stability is going to help all those supporting muscles of a joint, once those are developed back up then you can move into the strength portion of a program.
The key with any injury is to be super patient, and take your time through the rehab process. Take a couple weeks with stability work and then let that lead into strength.

In order to rehab patellar tendonitis, it takes patience and lazer focus. It is not so much about what exercises you pick to increase your knee strength, it is more about being able to progress and regress each exercise you do for your jumper's knee pain. If you are just coming off a fresh patellar tendonitis injury, it is important to build back up the strength and stability it the muscles before we start focusing on the actual tendon itself. I give you the process of how I progress exercises, and how you need to go about getting the proper strength in the legs and the knees so you can prevent getting patellar tendinopathy.

Ice Bath For Athletes (Is It Necessary?)
I wanted to talk about the benefits of taking an ice bath immediately after a strenuous workout, practice or game. Their has been some question in recent years if taking an ice bath is anymore beneficial than having a complete recovery day.
I talk about some studies that have been done on ice baths, and what studies say about ice baths. Even though I am no doctor, I also give my opinion on if I think ice baths are necessary.
