I've found it to be quite challenging to save and reload the position and rotation of multiple objects in different Maya scenes. This tool is your friend.

There was a basic version of instCut under speedCut,
but it's very hard to use as I need to draw curve and convert to a mesh, then add it as a cutter. With the new instCut, it just feels natural; I can draw the shape much easier.

the idea is a bit like a live snap in Maya, but with multi-shape. whenever I mess up the shape just simple click to snap it back. so I would be afraid to move/delete/add any vertex or line. because I can always snap back to the right shape.

combine few trick to see I can preserve mesh volume for poly smooth and poly relax.
for poly smooth
wrap deformer works better for volume but less smooth.
shrinkWrap, better smooth but shrink volume a bit more.
for poly relax
simple relax and transferAttributes work very nice to preserve volume.

There is a request about whether it is possible to limit the number of edges when making an edge loop selection. Also, force to the left or right side.
I thought it was an interesting challenge and gave it a go.
It's much more complicated than I thought.
current idea, select a single edge, press hotkey to activate the script,
drag to increase or reduce edge loop number,
once the mouse is released, record the number and direction,
so it can fast apply the next selection (with the same number and direction).

Cleaning mesh after boolean can be stressful,
boolCleaner reduces the tedious process.
This tool can help merge vertices at intersections.
To do this, it sorts vertices based on their edges and can be used to keep one set of vertices while merging the rest.

as some suggestion, I added a bit more function, extruded both positive and negative value, and work for multiple faces.
I think as Maya is super picky with boolean, it will break very easy when a non-manifold face occurred

lock edge - insert edge loop from both side and save offset distance which then can be re-apply to different edge. useful to create uniform around edge in sub-d workflow.
