Here is the summary of the content: Why have macro people been interested in crypto from 2011 onwards? The reason is that macro looks at the structure of global economies, the financial system, and potential opportunities. The government made the last global recession worse by creating perverse incentives. So, when the government is worried about debt, the thing that happens in a recession is that policymakers end up cutting interest rates to make sure the debt doesn't blow up. The lower the interest rates go, the more the debt goes up. Macro people looked at this problem from the year 2000 onwards after Asia was blown up in 1997 from a debt crisis. Then, everyone thought that it would also blow up the Western world. Then, a big recession emerged, which prompted the Federal Reserve and all central banks to cut rates to try to stimulate the economy. The development resulted in the housing bubble because of zero interest rates. The consequence was the 2008 global financial crisis as a result of a highly indebted state record, household debt, record corporate debt, record government debt, and record housing debt. So, the answer to everything is decimated. The solution was to cut interest rates, print and inject money into the system. Also, governments introduced massive fiscal stimulus and created incentives with zero interest rates, pushing money to the banking system. But macro people started looking for alternatives. Then, Raoul Pal was introduced to Bitcoin by his friend. He learned the blockchain technology would allow people to record the ownership of assets, which was the problem of an indebted society. Raoul Pal also discovered other benefits in Bitcoin, so he started investing in it in 2013. Note that the entire digital asset is now running at twice the speed of the internet at the same number of users. Between 1990 and 2000, we had the fastest adoption Of any technology when the internet grew 63% a year. But now, Bitcoin is growing at 113% a year.
