Heinrich Spiecker M.S '71 delivers the SJ Hall Lecture in Industrial Forestry. Spiecker has conducted extensive forest management research in Germany and internationally on issues such as changes in forest productivity; growing valuable broad-leaved trees; and options for and consequences of converting man-made spruce forests to "close to nature" forests. Most recently, he coordinated projects dealing with future management possibilities for China's forests. Professor Spiecker is Director, Institute for Forest Growth at the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences, University of Frieburg, Germany.
