Today, we delve into the story of Abraham's faith as he was asked to sacrifice his son, Isaac. It's a profound test of his trust in God's provisions. Sometimes, God asks us to trust in His plan, even when it challenges our expectations. In your life, where do you need to trust in God's provision? How can you align your expectations with His divine plan? In prayer, seek the strength to rely on God's perfect provisions in all areas of your life. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3Fti2iQAW0

It's hard when we go through tests of our faith, especially when it leads to failure on our part. We naturally feel ashamed and guilty. But why would God allow these things to happen in the first place?

Prayer is communing with God who loves us. It cannot be approached haphazardly or carelessly. We must approach it with reverence and awe, for we are drawing near to Him who loves us deeply. He is our Savior and Lord. Therefore, we must transition into prayer slowly and not just enter into it as if it is just one of those things we do because we are Christians. It is a sacred moment.

The Church as The Bride of Christ | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Oct 20, 2022
Text: Psalm 45:1-17 (cf. Hebrews 1:8-9)
The Bible uses different metaphors to describe the relationship between Jesus and the church. One of them is the metaphor of "bride". Thus, the church is called the "Bride of Christ". As the "bride", the church is waiting for the official "wedding ceremony" that will happen when Jesus finally returns. In the meantime, what does it mean to be the "bride of Christ" today?

Even though we may be sure that a certain soul movement is from the Lord, we may still examine the timing of our response. Discernment is still necessary in such cases.

13 Lord, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death, 14 that I may declare your praises in the gates of Daughter Zion, and there rejoice in your salvation. (Psalm 9:13-14)
Being persecuted is a difficult experience. We experience hostility, harassment, and ill-treatment from others because of our beliefs. They may use verbal abuse or maybe even physical abuse. We may suffer because we choose to stand by our faith. Through intimidation and threats, they do all they can to force us to conform. How can we find comfort during such difficult times?

Main Idea: “When persecuted, our comfort will come from the Lord.” (“Kapag inuusig, ang kaginhawaan natin ay magmumula sa Panginoon.”)
How can we find comfort in times of persecution?
Two Ways
1. By knowing that the Lord sees (v.13).
2. By knowing that the Lord saves (v.14).

51 As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. 52 And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; 53 but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. 54 When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them[b]?” 55 But Jesus turned and rebuked them. 56 Then he and his disciples went to another village. (Luke 9:51-56)
Rejection hurts. That's why we don't want to be rejected. But rejection always happens especially for those who sincerely want to obey Christ. We need to know how to handle rejection. Of course, our best example when it comes to handling rejection well is Jesus Christ. He suffered rejection more than anyone else. But He handled it very well each time.

How do we handle rejection?
Four Don'ts
1. Don't forget your main purpose (v.51).
2. Don't be surprised by rejection (vv.52-53).
3. Don't repay evil for evil (vv.54-55).
4. Don't limit your options (vv.56).

22 This is why I have often been hindered from coming to you. 23 But now that there is no more place for me to work in these regions, and since I have been longing for many years to visit you, 24 I plan to do so when I go to Spain. I hope to see you while passing through and to have you assist me on my journey there, after I have enjoyed your company for a while. 25 Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem in the service of the Lord’s people there. 26 For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the Lord’s people in Jerusalem. 27 They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings. 28 So after I have completed this task and have made sure that they have received this contribution, I will go to Spain and visit you on the way. 29 I know that when I come to you, I will come in the full measure of the blessing of Christ. (Romans 15:22-29)
Many Christians today find themselves in the wrong situations because they do not listen to the Lord when they make plans. They just make plans and then they ask the Lord to bless their plans. Consequently, God gives them over to their plans, which they are already determined to do regardless of what God says. They do not receive God's guidance because they do not ask for it and they are not willing to listen to Him even if He gives it to them by His grace.

How should we make plans?
Three Considerations
1. Is your task from the Lord done already? (22-24)
2. Is the Lord directing you to a new task? (25-27)
3. Do you have consolation from the Lord to make changes? (28-29)

It is a challenge to talk about religion and politics because these topics are often very sensitive and can be controversial. People often have very strong opinions about religion and politics and are not willing to compromise or see things from different perspectives. This can lead to heated debates and disagreements that can be difficult to navigate or negotiate. But it's always helpful to know what Jesus taught about politics. Perhaps, He alone can bring about the right balance to resolve the disagreements.
