Sjögren syndrome is a clinical triad of dry eyes, dry mouth and arthritis. Sicca syndrome is dry eyes, and dry mouth, but NO arthritis. Symptoms of Sjögren syndrome include dry eyes (xeroophthalmia), dry mouth (xerostomia), arthritis, dry skin (xerosis cutis), dry vagina, painful intercourse (dyspareunia), autoimmune thyroiditis, monoclonal gammopathy, lymphoma (usually marginal zone lymphoma, aka MALToma which is a B-cell Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma). Sjögren Syndrome affects the minor salivary glands, the lacrimal glands, the lymph nodes, the thyroid glands, the vaginal lubrication glands, the sebaceous glands,...etc. Sjögren syndrome serum antibodies include anti-SS-A (Anti-Ro) and Anti-SS-B (anti-La). So, liver Cirrhosis will affect the blood vessels in the lungs by 2 different mechanisms:- 1) Absence of a hepatic factor which leads to arteriovenous malformatins in the lung. 2) Production of Nitric Oxide (NO) which is vasodilatory in effect, which will dilate the arteriovenous shunts in the lungs, increasing the chance of blood passing quickly without sufficient gas exchange, which furtherly worsens the problem. Ventilation perfusion mismatch will occur (Shunt Physiology).
