(LCAC) depart the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) with vehicles and equipment from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. ESMERALDAS, Ecuador (Oct. 30, 2018) Hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) medical teams worked with the government of Ecuador to provide care to people in Esmeraldas, Ecuador during its first mission stop. Comfort is on an 11-week medical support mission to Central and South America as part of U.S. Southern Command’s Enduring Promise initiative. Working with health and government partners in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and Honduras, the embarked medical team will provide care on board and at land-based medical sites, helping to relieve pressure on national medical systems caused partly by an increase in cross-border migrants. Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) arrives in Los Angeles, March 27. Mercy deployed in support of the nation’s COVID-19 response efforts and will serve as a referral hospital for non-COVID-19 patients currently admitted to shore-based hospitals. This allows shore base hospitals to focus their efforts on COVID-19 cases. One of the Department of Defense’s (DoD) missions is Defense Support of Civil Authorities. DoD is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the lead federal agency, as well as state, local and public health authorities in helping protect the health and safety of the American people.

Video segment produced using b-roll footage of an A-7E Corsair II that is on static display at Air Power Park in Hampton, Virginia. The Corsair bears the markings of Attack Squadron 37 (VA-37), which was established in 1966 during the Vietnam War. The squadron deployed twice in support of operations during the Vietnam War, and spliced in this segment are archived footage and images of VA-37 and Corsairs during the Vietnam War, along with b-roll footage and images of the Hampton Roads Naval Museum's Exhibit "The Ten-Thousand Day War at Sea," which tells the story of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
