ARABIAN GULF (Oct 19, 2014) The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl VInson (CVN 70) conducts flight operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations (AOR) in support of Inherent Resolve. Comfort is on an 11-week medical support mission to Central and South America as part of U.S. Southern Command’s Enduring Promise initiative. Working with health and government partners in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and Honduras, the embarked medical team will provide care on board and at land-based medical sites, helping to relieve pressure on national medical systems caused partly by an increase in cross-border migrants. Video segment produced using b-roll footage of an A-7E Corsair II that is on static display at Air Power Park in Hampton, Virginia. The Corsair bears the markings of Attack Squadron 37 (VA-37), which was established in 1966 during the Vietnam War. The squadron deployed twice in support of operations during the Vietnam War, and spliced in this segment are archived footage and images of VA-37 and Corsairs during the Vietnam War, along with b-roll footage and images of the Hampton Roads Naval Museum's Exhibit "The Ten-Thousand Day War at Sea," which tells the story of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
