I set out with the goal of redeeming myself going after sheepshead with lures and that quickly went out the window when I saw how low the water was. I switched to fiddler crabs on a Sheep Sticker jig and very quickly hooked into a few big fish. And then just like that the bite died down for a while. It finally turned back on just in time for me to catch the big fish of the day in a really unbelievably lucky way. I honestly couldn't believe how big this fish was and that it didn't break me off. What made it even more insane is that I use braid fishing line which cuts like thread... I can't explain it short of being especially lucky on this day.
I hope you all enjoyed the video, have a great weekend and remember to make some time for fishing!

Well I've been talking about giving sheepshead fishing a shot for a long time but it seemed intimidating to try out and the redfish have been biting so well I didn't want to change things up. However, I decided I wanted a challenge on this trip and man am I glad I did because I found my new favorite fish to target in sheepshead.
I tied on a very short leader carolina rig with a 1/2 oz egg sinker, 20lb fluoro carbon leader and a size 1 circle hook and started dropping crabs around dock pilings. I lost a lot of baits before I actually landed my first fish, but after a redfish or two I finally landed my first sheepshead of the day. It was a tiny guy, but once I got the feel for how they bite and take the bait I had a great first sheepshead trip and caught a whole lot of fish including my first ever keeper sheepshead. While it was a personal best it was still a relatively small sheeper so I won't be bragging about this PB too much. Now when I hit 20" that'll be another story...
The wind was a challenge on this trip so I apologize for the wind noise in the first few minutes of the video but I did what I could to equalize the sound.
I hope you all enjoyed the video, there will definitely be a lot more sheepshead fishing to come so keep an eye out for future videos. Thank you so much for watching and have a great weekend.

I went out in search of some eating size catfish from the Ashley River and encountered an inconsistent bite to say the least. I went out 3 different days and caught 3 fish total but they were of a pretty decent variety. The first fish was a big blue catfish that hit in the first 30 seconds of fishing, the second fish was a smaller and good eating-size catfish which I did a catch and cook with, and the 3rd was a surprise long-nose gar that came in the last 10 minutes of my 3rd trip.
I know my technique works and that this river holds a good number of catfish, I just have to figure out some spring patters and I'll be hooking-up in no-time. Enjoy the video and let me know below what you think. If you'd like to see a catch and cook please let me know in the comments! Thanks and enjoy!

I linked up with my buddy Scott on this trip and we headed out to Breach Inlet. He had a new kayak and wanted to break it in a bit so I suggested we try to get him on his first sheepshead since the bite has been on fire on Breach. We very quickly started hooking into some big, big fish and had an absolute day out there. By the end of the day we landed multiple giant redfish and sheepshead and just had a good time on the water. We had nonstop action and Scott did manage to catch several sheepshead his first time going after them!
All the fish caught in this video were caught using small live fiddler crabs either freelined or fished on a small split shot rig.
Thank you for watching and have a great day! Goodluck on the water and be safe!

I went out and did some inshore fishing from my kayak on a flat outside of Isle of Palms, SC. I was using live mud minnows as bait as well as some cut up shrimp and I got into some serious action! I managed to catch dozens of fish during the last few hours of the rising tide. I landed a huge ladyfish, big stingray and a whole mix of other species of fish but most importantly I had a blast.

I've been wanting to get one for a long time and the timing finally worked out for me to get a pedal drive kayak! I knew it would be game changing but I had no idea how huge of a game changer it would be! The model I went with was the Perception Pescador Pilot 12.0 and I'm already loving it! I got on so many fish on this trip in an incredibly short period of time (including a big PB) and it was all thanks to the new kayak. I hope you all enjoyed the video and thank you so much for watching.

I went right back to the same area as my last video the very next day, and there was even more fish than the day before! The bite just never stopped throughout the morning and into the afternoon. Since the bite was so constant, I decided to do a couple live sheepshead rig tutorials in the middle of my trip. The fish seemed happy to help! This was just an incredible day of fishing and I hope you all enjoy the video.

If you're local to the Charleston area or the Southeast in general I'm sure you all agree that this weather the past couple weeks has been nasty. I'm sick of it, but trying to make the best of it. Thankfully the sheepshead don't seem to mind, but if the wind and rain wanted to stop that would be great with me.
I was using fiddler crabs fished on a carolina rig made up of 6-8" of 20lb fluorocarbon leader, a 1/0 J hook and a 1/2 oz egg sinker. Despite the struggle and discomfort of fishing from a kayak with these types of conditions the fish were hungry and I got on some great and quick action. I had to cut quite a few fish for time and also I kept getting rain on the lens and that footage was unwatchable. Sorry some of the clips are a little blurry I did my best to keep the lens clear but some days are a lot harder than others.
I hope you all enjoyed the video and if you did please consider subscribing! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend, hopefully we get some nicer weather coming up!

Since I figured out a few docks and spots that hold sheepshead on the last trip, I headed back out on Shem Creek with fiddlers in hand, trying to see if I could figure these fish out. I switched it up after a little bit and started using the knocker rig to see if I could increase my hookup ratio and I can't say for sure that's the reason I did better or what, but I'm definitely starting to figure out sheepshead fishing.
My knocker rig was 30lb fluorocarbon leader, 1/2 oz egg sinker and a size 1 octopus circle hook paired up with fiddler crabs. The bite was on with these fish using crabs so I burned through a half pint of fiddlers in a little under 2 hours. After I ran out of bait I tied on the trusty Bellaire Swimbait Jig with a 5" paddlerZ by Zman and started casting swimbaits around to catch a few more fish before calling it a day.
I hope you all enjoyed the video and I hope it was helpful for at least some of you. If there's anything you'd like to see me try next in a future video please let me know down below. Thanks for watching and have a great day!

Well I'm considering this video a Holiday present and a thank you for all of you who have been sticking with me, watching my videos and supporting me so much as I'm working to grow the channel (no matter how many googan mistakes I make)! Thank you all so much I appreciate you all and I hope you have a great Holiday season whatever you celebrate!
A few weeks back I was at the tackle shop looking for fiddler crabs but they were sold out as they often are this time of year. I started talking to this guy who works at the store and he told me about this spawn netting stuff and how he likes to use it with clams. So I bought some spawn net pre-cut squares, some magic thread and my oyster shucking knife and headed out to the creek. I decided I would rather use fresh shucked oysters as my bait than clams as I know that sheepshead love to eat them and they're plentiful around here, and man did it pay off. I don't think I'll be buying fiddler crabs again anytime soon!
Not only does this allow me to sheepshead fish whenever I want (and not just when the tackle shop has fiddlers in), but it also is saving me a ton of money. One 50 count bag of mesh bags lasted me 4+ sheepshead trips and with the magic thread only cost me $10. That's a steal!
Anyway I hope this video was nearly as helpful for you as it was for me, I'm really excited about discovering this new bait option and I've since caught plenty of big fish and have more sheepshead videos to come with this bait so stay tuned. Thank you so much for watching and have a great day!
