Why do people believe in #conspiracytheories, and what is the evidence to support them? #Truth and mysteries researcher Andy Thomas explores an intriguing alternative history of humankind, as seen through the eyes of those who question the establishment version of events, taking in everything from the Roman Empire, the #GunpowderPlot and the World Wars, to #JFK, #Watergate, the Moon landings, Princess Diana, 9/11, the '#NewWorldOrder' and other huge controversies in a compelling and fascinating journey. Now that COVID-19 doubts and the US Capitol invasion have put conspiracies under a new spotlight it is even more important we understand why people continue to question authority and Andy puts the past and the present into useful context in an insightful presentation Andy Thomas is one of the UK's best-known researchers into conspiracies, unexplained mysteries and cover-ups, and is the author of many books, including

(uploader comments: osint reference libraries like this are rare. When we come across any we agree to text the others. Then we spring into action archive then meet share discuss, see what floats over some months)
We study "modern" and "urban" legends, and also any legend circulating actively. FOAFTale News is indexed in the MLA Bibliography.
This newsletter is called FOAFTale News for the jocular term current among legend scholars for over twenty years.
The term "FOAF" was introduced by Rodney Dale (in his 1978 book, The Tumour in the Whale) for an oft-attributed but anonymous source of contemporary legends: a "friend of a friend."
Dale pointed out that contemporary legends always seemed to be about someone just two or three steps from the teller – a boyfriend's cousin, a co-worker's aunt, or a neighbour of the teller's mechanic.
"Foaf" became a popular term at the Sheffield legend conferences in the 1980s. It was only a short step to the pun "foaftale," a step taken by a yet-anonymous wag.
FOAFTale News is an online publication.
