God's Comfort in Times of Sorrow | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC 11 Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. 12 As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.” 14 Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” 15 The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. 16 They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.” 17 This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country. (Luke 7:11-17) Sooner or later, we will all experience sorrow. There's no need to feel guilty about it because it is only natural. But how we respond to sorrow is crucial. Many try to escape it by indulging in activities that can make them forget. Others self-correct themselves with all kinds of Scriptures so that they will not feel the pain. Some blame God and they become bitter toward Him. Vindicate me, Lord, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High. 9 Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure—you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts. 10 My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart. 11 God is a righteous judge, a God who displays his wrath every day. 12 If he does not relent, he will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow. 13 He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows. 14 Whoever is pregnant with evil conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment. 15 Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit they have made. 16 The trouble they cause recoils on them; their violence comes down on their own heads. 17 I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High. (Psalm 7:1-17) A false accusation is a difficult situation. We are often tempted to defend ourselves or even to fight back. Sometimes we look for a third party who can side with us against the person who is accusing us. This results in further complications. It can become very messy. Relationships can be destroyed when this type of situation is not handled properly. The word of God teaches us a better way to handle false accusations.
