God's Comfort in Times of Sorrow | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
11 Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. 12 As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.” 14 Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” 15 The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. 16 They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.” 17 This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country. (Luke 7:11-17)
Sooner or later, we will all experience sorrow. There's no need to feel guilty about it because it is only natural. But how we respond to sorrow is crucial. Many try to escape it by indulging in activities that can make them forget. Others self-correct themselves with all kinds of Scriptures so that they will not feel the pain. Some blame God and they become bitter toward Him. A better response is to find comfort in God through faith in Jesus.

1 Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, 2 or they will tear me apart like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me. 3 Lord my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands—4 if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe—5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. 6 Arise, Lord, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice. 7 Let the assembled peoples gather around you, while you sit enthroned over them on high. 8 Let the Lord judge the peoples. Vindicate me, Lord, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High. 9 Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure—you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts. 10 My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart. 11 God is a righteous judge, a God who displays his wrath every day. 12 If he does not relent, he will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow. 13 He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows. 14 Whoever is pregnant with evil conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment. 15 Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit they have made. 16 The trouble they cause recoils on them; their violence comes down on their own heads. 17 I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High. (Psalm 7:1-17)
A false accusation is a difficult situation. We are often tempted to defend ourselves or even to fight back. Sometimes we look for a third party who can side with us against the person who is accusing us. This results in further complications. It can become very messy. Relationships can be destroyed when this type of situation is not handled properly. The word of God teaches us a better way to handle false accusations. We need to learn how to respond.

Main Idea: “A false accusation is an opportunity to experience God's vindication.” (“Ang maling paratang ay pagkakataon para maranasan ang pagtatanggol ng Diyos.”)
How do we respond to false accusations?
Two God-Honoring Responses
1. Look to God to defend your innocence (vv.1-9).
2. Leave room for God to execute His justice (vv.10-17).

Fake news refers to the spread of false information and is a growing concern in today's society. It can cause harm by misinforming the public, creating social and political divisions, and undermining trust in credible sources. In an era where information is easily accessible through social media, it is crucial to verify the accuracy of information before accepting it as truth. This is especially so when it comes to our faith and practice. We must know and believe the truth about Jesus as revealed in God's word, the Bible. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The Jesus we see in the Scriptures is the same Jesus we can believe in and follow today. As we begin this new series, we want to look at Jesus as the One who reveals invisible realities to us.

A Higher Kind of Love | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. 32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. (Luke 6:27-36)
What is the main difference between a true disciple of Christ and those who are not? It's not their external appearance. They probably look the same. It's not even their activities, for both believers and unbelievers can look very religious on the outside. The main difference between the two is the kind of love that each can exhibit. Of course, those who do not acknowledge Christ can still exhibit love. But the true disciple of Christ can exhibit a higher kind of love.

Picture this: Abraham, the father of faith, embarking on a journey of purpose, with every step, his divine path was becoming clearer before him. Yet, like all of us, his faith faced the crucible of testing. His experience invites us to explore our own journey of faith, for it's not a question of "if" we'll be tested, but "when". When the test happens, where we focus our attention will determine our success in fulfilling our mission in life.

Often when we are experiencing desolation, we forget that the Lord is with us and He will not abandon us. We must continue trusting in Him in spite of what we are experiencing at the moment. We must be patient and expect God's consolation soon enough.
