Moron With a BB Gun Gets Shot by San Antonio Police
Consistent with our Critical Incident Video Release Procedure, the department, today, released video from the officer-involved shooting that occurred on September 4th, 2023.
Below is a brief synopsis of the critical incident: While on patrol, two officers assigned with the SAPD Covert Response Unit, received information on the location of a suspect, who was wanted on 4 warrants for Aggravated Robbery. Both officers, each in a separate vehicle, drove to the rear of the apartment complex to apprehend the suspect. As the first officer arrived, the suspect began walking away from the officer while having his left hand in his pocket. The officer gave him commands to show him his hands and the suspect removed a cell phone from his left pocket. Officers continued to give commands when the suspect turned and began to walk away from the officers, while reaching into his front pockets. One officer deployed his Taser on the suspect, causing the suspect to fall forward. As the suspect fell, he rotated his body around, pointing a firearm at both officers. Both officers discharged their firearms at the suspect, striking him. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jacob String, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
As with all officer involved shootings, the District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the incident.

On Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm, the complainant was walking into a convenience store, located at the 1600 block of Collingsworth, in Houston, Texas. The complainant stated that he was suddenly approached from behind by an unknown male, who forcibly grabbed his backpack that he was holding. The complainant refused to let go of the bag until a second suspect joined in and began to drag him towards their vehicle. The suspects were then able to gain control of the complainant’s backpack and got into a Jeep Gladiator, driven by a third suspect, and fled the location. Houston PD #1004330-23
The complainant had to make a bank run at the Nazari Progressive Federal Credit Union at 117700 University Boulevard prior to the incident and was followed by the suspects.
Suspect description: Two unknown race males wearing dark clothing.
Vehicle description: Jeep Gladiator.

Below is a brief synopsis of the critical incident:
At approximately 11 am, SAPD officers were at the location after receiving a tip that a suspect wanted for multiple warrants was staying at the hotel. After several hours of conducting surveillance, officers observed the suspect enter the vehicle he was known to drive. A detective, wearing a tactical vest that was labeled with “POLICE” on the front and back, quickly approached and ordered the suspect to show his hands. The suspect fled on foot holding a gun in his hand. As officers chased the suspect on foot, uniformed officers in two subdued marked patrol vehicles made the location to assist in apprehending the suspect. The suspect continued to run towards the access road. Officers in one of the patrol vehicles saw the suspect running in their direction with a gun in his hand and drew their firearms. The officer driving the vehicle slowed down and shot twice through the windshield of the patrol vehicle, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Both the SAPD Shooting Team and the Internal Affairs Unit are conducting separate and concurrent inquiries. Their findings will be sent to the Bexar County District Attorney's office for an independent review.

On Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at around 3:30 pm, the complainant had just returned home at the 2000 block of Wilde Rock Way, in Houston, Texas. The complainant stated that as he was rolling his trash bins towards his house, a maroon Toyota Camry slowly rolled by and an unknown male exited the back passenger seat and ran towards him while holding a gun and demanding his property. The suspect searched the complainant’s pocket, removing his wallet, and then took his backpack, which had his computer and iPad. The suspect then ran back to the Toyota Camry, got into the rear passenger seat, and then fled the location. Houston PD #1201914-23
The complainant stated that just prior to the incident, he had gone to a Bank of America at 5218 W. 34th and withdrew money. It is likely that the suspects followed the complainant home from the bank.
Suspect description: Black male, 17 to 30 years old, wearing a blue pullover and blue matching pants.
Vehicle description: Maroon Toyota Camry.

The Oxnard Police Department has released a Critical Incident Community Briefing video of the officer involved shooting incident that occurred at approximately 6:00 A.M. on Sunday, March 12, 2023.

Immediately preceding the shooting incident, three Oxnard Police Department officers were conducting a DUI investigation on the north side of the 100 block of West Fourth Street, between ‘A' Street and Oxnard Boulevard. Officers Shayn Schwartz, Alexus Santos, and Bryce Parker were finishing up the investigation. Officer Santos was standing on the sidewalk with a member of the public when the suspect, Adam Barcenas, quickly approached from the west. Barcenas was not involved with the DUI investigation. Barcenas was yelling at the officers, repeatedly stating that he hated them. Barcenas was wielding a steel bar, approximately five feet in length, with both hands. Barcenas continued to yell at the officers as he advanced towards them. Officers Santos and Parker drew their tasers, and Officer Schwartz drew his service firearm. The member of the public was directed to move away from the danger, and the officers commanded Barcenas to put the bar down. Barcenas ignored the officers’ commands and continued to advance towards the officers in an aggressive and threatening manner.
Barcenas advanced on Officer Schwartz, and Officer Schwartz fired four shots from his firearm. Three of the four bullets struck Barcenas. Barcenas was shot in the inner thigh of his right leg, his left hip and his left upper torso. Simultaneously, Officer Santos fired her taser. The taser probes struck Barcenas, but embedded in Barcenas’ clothing and did not penetrate his skin. Officer Parker did not fire his taser.
Following the shooting, the officers rendered first aid until EMS personnel arrived on scene. Barcenas was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center, and was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:30 A.M.
Witnesses at the scene provided statements to detectives.
The officers, as well as the members of the public who were present at the scene, were not harmed during the incident.

On Saturday, February 11, 2023 at around 11:30 pm, an unknown male entered a drug store, located at the 5200 block of Almeda, in Houston, Texas. The male approached the employee at the counter, displayed a handgun, and demanded the money from the cash register. The employee complied with the suspect, opened the cash drawer, and placed the money into a bag that the suspect was holding. The suspect then walked out of the store and got into the passenger side of an older model four door Mercedes and drove away from the location. Houston PD #208621-23

On Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at around 11:10 am, the complainant had just parked at a commercial parking lot at the 9600 block of Bellaire, in Houston, Texas. The complainant stated that he was suddenly approached from behind by an unknown male, who forcibly threw him to the ground. The suspect grabbed a money bag that the complainant was holding and then ran back to a dark colored Ford Fusion and fled the location. Houston PD #951859-23
Prior to the incident, the complainant had withdrawn cash from the Bank of America at 11288 Westheimer and was likely followed by the suspects. The suspects were in two separate vehicles, a dark colored Ford Fusion and a black Chrysler 300 with fake paper tags.
Suspect description: Black male, 25 to 25 years old, 5’9 to 6’0, medium build and wearing dark clothing.
